SORT BY Relevancy
Lee Haney and I welcome Brenda Boswell, founder of the Healthy Lifestyle Showcase in Atlanta.
All too often, many people have a tendency to disregard their physical health...especially when they seem to believe the other areas of their life are going so smoothly. However, what they fail to recognize is that while an individual's social, occupational, financial, spiritual, and/or other areas might be functioning well, there are often a wide-array of health-related factors that are slowly but surely taking root within their physical infrastructure.
While a growing number of faith-based congregations are beginning to understand the relevance in seeking to help in the healing of the ENTIRE person--mind, body and soul, there is still a large number who have not effectively addressed this particular area of importance yet. Each day, week, month and year alarming numbers of people of all ages and backgounds are dying long before their appointed time. Those who don't succumb relatively quickly often suffer as a result of lingering conditions.
Brenda and her team are addresssing these concerns with the Healthy Lifestyle showcase in Atlanta, Saturday, September 14, 2013 .
Join us as we talk about how she was inspired to create this event and how you can help us spread the word about health and wellness.
The holidays are one time of the year when you really want to feel your best. But they're also a minefield of health woes, from cold and flu bugs to party hangovers.
Beyond getting the flu vaccine, there's a lot you can do to help your body weather the season. This is how to keep healthy—and merry—as you shop, travel, and celebrate.
Think perky thoughts
On those days when you barely have time to breathe, recall something that made you happy and you can get a boost.
Smell the shower gel
The act of savoring—mining pleasant moments for their joy—is a proven happiness booster. In one study published in The Journal of Positive Psychology, 101 men and women kept diaries for a month, recording positive activities they participated in and how much they did or didn't savor them. Those who tended to enjoy a good thing—and share their delight with others—maintained high levels of happiness no matter what the day brought, whereas nonappreciators needed positive events to get into a good mood.

...."Real Housewives of Atlanta" cast mate Marlo Hampton stops by to discuss her charity "Simply Giving" . "Simply Giving" was created because Hampton saw how many families didn't have the means to have a great Thanksgiving dinner and she wanted to be able to improve a few families lives. This is just one of the many projects Hampton feels will aid her community during these tough economic times. She is also the founder of the "Glam it Up" Project where she mentors and sponsors many events for foster care children in Atlanta.
Marlo believes, "It's important that we pay it forward. Even if we can only help one person, you can make a difference."
