SORT BY Relevancy
Join hosts Alice Lynch and Sumayya Coleman and Research Commentator Shasme Jackson as they talk to Rose Pulliam and B. Cole about the dynamics of intimate partner violence in lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) communities. The show will give voice to survivors who face societal and systemic barriers based on gender identity and sexual orientation by highlighting and examining ways in which institutions and systems that are supposed to provide solace and meet the needs of all help-seekers, actually make it difficult for LGBTQ survivors to access services. Guests will also describe the unique challenges of communities of color, and provide possible solutions and actions toward alleviating these issues.
In what ways do race and gender identity play a role in who we have romantic relationships with? Is the personal really political? And for all the prejudice and expectations that are heaped on couples that come from different backgrounds, is that hardship lessened in the LGBTQ community, or is it just more of the same?
Tune in as we speak to four guests about their dating history with those of another race or gender identity.

Join host Anah Mae "live in the mischief" with yet another taboo topic discussion. This time we are taking a deeper look into gender expression versus sexual orientation. Does the way a person expresses their self reflect directly on their sexual preference? America is no stranger to fighting for rights and equality; but if everyone wants to be someone else our future of originality and reproduction could be in danger. While we are evolving as a society in knowledge, technology, and radical thinking we may also be on the verge of reprogramming our identity.

Abuse can leave wounds of many varieties. How we feel about being a man or a woman, how we see our bodies, how we think about sex, and how we express ourselves sexually are common things that are influenced by negative experiences in our childhood. We may become defined by our needs, our desires, and our feelings. Fear, unmet attachment needs, and lack of confidence in our sexuality can all influence us in the area of developing our gender identity. Dennis Jernigan, singer, songwriter, and author, knows this firsthand. Having walked through the journey of sexual brokenness into giving and receiving healthy love, he will share his story of hope and healing with us. Join us Thursday, February 6th on Beyond Abuse Radio and be inspired!
