THE HUMAN AGENDA: Conversations about Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity with author Joe Wenke
Despite the progress in the movement toward marriage equality, the LGBTQI community continues to face difficult, and often heartbreaking, odds. Gay and lesbian youth are four times more likely than their peers to attempt suicide. Nearly half of transgender teens have contemplated suicide and a quarter has made an attempt, according to The Trevor Project. Adoption equality and second-parent rights are still blocked in many states, and legislators in Oklahoma and Alabama have tried to introduce laws that make it legal to discriminate against gays and lesbians. Perhaps most disturbing of all, homicide rates for transgender women account for 45 percent of all hate murders, according to GLAAD.
Joe Wenke thinks there is a better way. By opening up discussions about our shared humanity and experiences, Wenke is getting people to talk with, not at, each other and leaving the rancor and divisiveness behind, beginning with his book THE HUMAN AGENDA: Conversations about Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity. For this collection of frank conversations about growing up, coming out, finding your identity, family, marriage, parenting, careers and so much more.

How we define ourselves, mother, father, coach, pastor, businessman, teacher...these self-identifying monikers can play a huge role in what we persue. Our focus, our passion, our time, our resources, our very personality can be shaped almost entirely by how we perceive our identity. Do you believe that God has planted with you a divine identity? A purpose that is supernatural and eternal? And if you do, are you operating in that identity? Do you even know what it is
“Gender expression” refers to the ways in which we each manifest masculinity or femininity. Each of us expresses a particular gender every day – by the way we style our hair, select our clothing, or even the way we stand. Our appearance, speech, behavior, movement, and other factors signal that we feel – and wish to be understood – as masculine or feminine, or as a man or a woman.
For some of us, our gender expression may not match our biological sex. We may or may not fit another's expectations of masculinity or femininity because of the way we look, act, or dress. Our guest knows firsthand the struggle of not feeling her assigned sex. Author Tracy James Jones, though born male, has been referred to as “she” throughout her life. She never fully embraced the male gender as her own because she always felt or related more to being viewed as female. At the age of fifteen, she made a tearful confession to God on the altar at her church—she finally embraced her true self because she believed that God loved her, too.
Our guest tonight is a young man with much to share. Charles Lewis is a wonderful husband of 10 years, a proud father of two beautiful daughters and a man who loves the Lord. Charles is a native of Goldsboro, North Carolina; son of Apostle Charles and Pastor Lisa Lewis of Antioch Church Ministries.
There is tremendous excitement in my spirit about what God is going to do through this young man. He will be sharing from the topic, "Identity Crisis"!

Today Robert FitzGerald, Theoretical Astrologer and I are going to talk about the Astrological Roots of Gender Roles and the difference between Archetypes and Stereotypes.
Robert FitzGerald is the authtor of The Signs of the Times This is a fascinating account of how time and history follow an astrological structure. This structure consists of astrological ages that are chronicled from before the Age of Cancer, and the invention of agriculture around the world, to the present end of the Age of Pisces, and the much-prophesied Apocalyptic end of the world. Within this pattern an end-time cycle emerges that explains the Apocalyptic energies that we see around us today. Astrology also promises, in the coming Age of Aquarius, a new golden age and gives us indications of what needs to be done to survive this end-time. ~~~~~Robert FitzGerald is an artist, photographer, and theoretical astrologer. For more than 25 years, he has been pushing the boundaries of astrology into theories of religion, mythology, mathematics, genetics, geology and physics.
