The Cost of Freedom… or is it?
Thursday, July 03, 2014 @1 pm (CST) Healthy Mind & Body radio is talking about “THE COST OF FREEDOM”
On the eve of our 238th observance of the signing THE DELCLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, I thought it might be a good time to talk about FREEDOM.
Freedom is a subjective term, that means many things to many people, and I thought it may be interesting to explore WHAT FREEDOM IS, what this means and how to use what freedoms we have, identify what additional freedoms that we need and as usual, how to make this planet a better place to live.
So put on your RED, WHITE AND BLUE hat and let’s talk more at 1 pm
To call into the show – 818-668-5406

Talk to you then
The freedom we have today is due to the great sacrifice of our men and women who served their country with honor, dignity and purpose. One we must not take for granted. In Christ we can also experience spiritual freedom, no longer held in bondage by those same old besetting sins that seek to chase after us daily. But why do we as Christians have such a difficult time of living out that freedom on a daily basis? How can we experience the true joy God meant for us? We must not forget the price Jesus had to pay for our sins. And until we can grasp this, we will not live the abundant life that was meant for us. Just as Christ layed down his life for us, His great love should move and motivate us to do the same.
Why America is getting too big to please and too diverse to satisfy? Freedom is only a cost against measured values when you are deprived it. How do you invent yourself when you have too much time? If you live in a depraved country where freedom is not even in the mix, where you have to walk 1 mile for water or are chased by terrorists like Sudan, freedom is a far off vision. But too much freedom can weigh you down. Loyalty and commitment are the underside of life that drives your desire not to be controlled but to be a part of something. Define your freedom as we did based on this episdoe. Find out where bad choices can change your direction and how good convictions can change you.
It’s July 4th, so I have to ask, do you truly love freedom? Do you love it as much as our founding fathers did? Are you also willing to put everything on the line for the sake of freedom? Chapter 6, Music for Jesus Lyrics of Freedom; Chapter 7 Flight and Revolt, Runaways and Maroons
Michael Row the Boat Ashore
"Michael, Row the Boat Ashore" is an African-american spiritual. It was first noted during the American Civil War at St. Helena Island, one of the Sea Islands of South Carolina, USA.
The song was sung by former slaves whose owners had abandoned the island before the Union navy arrived to enforce a blockade. Charles Pickard Ware, an abolitionist and Harvard graduate who had come to supervise the plantations on St. Helena Island wrote the song down in music notation as he heard the freedmen sing.
The lyric describes the simple crossing of the River Jordan with macabre undertones provided by reference to trumpets, eternal life and unknown lands. Despite its deathly connotations the song is affirming, a celebration of faith under oppression.
“This book will force many readers to reexamine their assumptions about American history… Young readers will be fascinated and better informed for having experienced this book,” wrote School Library Journal. Striking photographs highlight this unknown heritage.”
