A Short story of one of the most Famous Kings in history and although he had riches and glory his fame was mostly attributed to wisdom!
Join us for this short true tale....Hosted by Lady Selah SuJuris
He grew up near the Seneca Hose firehouse, a typical wide-eyed “run to the curb” kid, constantly drawn to the wail of the fire sirens as they passed by. Today, Wally Pieczynski an assistant chief at that very house in West Seneca, NY, as well as an active instructor and now- a Firefighter Storyteller!
Join Tiger Schmittendorf’s “Firefighter Storytellers” Wednesday night at 9pm ET on Firefighter Netcast as Wally shares his story of growing up in the fire service and his special connections to the history and photos of some of the most famous names in the fire service. You’ll have the opportunity to join in the conversation in this special event as the Netcast comes live from the Firemen’s Memorial Exhibit Center of Western NY.
Dan Frontera grew up in the suburbs of Buffalo, NY in a family where community service was simply a way of life. His Dad was a Veteran along with most of his uncles. Both his Dad and one of his uncles were volunteer firemen too. Dan grew up to be both a soldier and a firefighter. Tune in to Firefighter Storytellers at 9pm EST on Thursday-November 11, 2010 to hear Dan’s story as he and Tiger Schmittendorf celebrate the contributions of all service men and women in a special Veterans Day tribute. Listen in, call in, download and follow Dan on his journey from Run-to-the-Curb kid to “Citizen. Soldier. Firefighter.” Help us promote Firefighter Storytellers and the FirefighterNetcast family of shows by downloading and sharing the show flyer.
Join me at 9pm on Wednesday-December 8th as I host my Firefighter Storytellers radio show live from the Buffalo Fire Historical Society.
My guest will be retired Lt. Patrick Coghlan from the Buffalo Fire Department. Pat is a 34-year veteran of Rescue One and Vice President of the Buffalo Fire Historical Society. More than that, Patty is a real character with a bit of a crusty exterior — but when you peel that away — you find a big guy with an even bigger heart and a very special fondness for telling stories and preserving the rich history of the fire service.
We’ll be joined around the table by a cast of characters in swapping stories about Christmas in the firehouse, the special Christmas display at the museum, and the pending retirement of another one of Buffalo Fire’s most famous characters: Battalion Chief and former Commissioner Mike Lombardo. The show will wrap up with a tribute to the memories of the five Buffalo firefighters lost in the downtown propane explosion on December 27, 1983 which forged a special bond between Pat Coghlan, Mike Lombardo and many others in the department at the time.
Please join us for a very special Christmas edition of Firefighter Storytellers on the FirefighterNetcast radio network. Trust me, we won’t run out of material any time soon. You’d better put on another pot.

The family at Firefighter Netcast continues to grow! This Wednesday, June 9 at 9pm, be sure to tune in live as we welcome our newest featured program to our growing family.
Tiger Schmittendorf is the host of “Firefighter Storytellers”, an open-format radio show in which listeners are encouraged to call in with their personal stories of what brought them into the fire service, and what has made the experience memorable for them.
We hope that our callers will share some insight as to what keeps them going day-in and day-out serving in our business of delivering emergency services to our communities.
“Firefighter Storytellers” is a natural outgrowth from Tiger’s popular “Run to the Curb” series. Tiger’s first guest will be very special — a volunteer firefighter and emergency room doctor who recently published a book of his own experiences in “the best damn job in the world.” Read more on Tiger’s site.
Each and every program in the Firefighter NetCast line-up (including “The Firefighter NetCast Show” with John and Rhett, “The Voice of Reason” with Art Goodrich, and now “Firefighter Storytellers” with Tiger Schmittendorf) is designed to facilitate kitchen table-style discussions between firefighters.
Firefighter NetCast is not your father’s radio show! It’s the only programming of its kind for firefighters. Check out our entire lineup throughout the summer as we have several new surprises on the horizon. If you’ve missed any previous program, you can find them here on Firefighter NetCast, or download them all over at iTunes. It’s free, easy, and fun- all great words for firefighters!
