There are many reasons the death penalty should be abolished. It is a complex issue and it is difficult to point to any single fact or argument as the most important.

Since 1976, when the death penalty was reinstated by the U.S. Supreme Court, 1,352 people have been executed. (as of October 2013)

    in Self Help

    Audiences love The Ex-Offender Files

The Ex-Offender Files show takes a serious approach to life, relationships, & controversial topics.   The legal knowledge, sarcasm, & wit keep listeners captivated. Together, host and listeners learn how to overcome life’s challenges.  The Ex Files serious straight, no-bull talk illustrates the truth about reality, life is just a game.

It is a widely known fact that the unemployment rate is the highest it has been for a long long time. Ex offenders make up almost 22% of the population in the United States, we all know that the possibility of an ex offender (regardless of what their crime was) finding a job is about 78-1 so, if we factor the ex offender population in to the national average it is clear that we make up almost 19+% of the unemployment rate countrywide. What this boils down to is simple, it has been proven that not all ex offenders are still thinking crime when they are released and if ex offenders were given more of a chance to correct their lives rather than being labeled (once a criminal always a criminal ) the national rate would drop severely. Common sense tells us that when a man/woman gets home from jail/prison they want to get their life back on the right track and with people holding us back because of this belief that we will just repeat our crime. This is false, we just want to get back the life we lost while inside..

The Ex-Offender Files - The Label of The Lost Tribe

    in Current Events

Sex offenders, the seemingly worst of the worst among criminal offenders today, are commonly  assumed to be highly recidivistic, as well as specialists, engaged in sex offending only.

Dr. Kim and I.B.Wise joined by Mark A. Clements, Eric Mayo discuss the plight of the Sex-Offender in society today.

Contrary to popular belief that once a sex offender, he will always  be a sex offender, recidivism rates are quite low for offenders that get counselling. At about 6%,  they are much lower than many other types of criminal recidivism.  That means 94%  don't re-offend.  This is compared to only 30% in the case of other offences. Sex Offender laws are gratuitously cruel and assume that all ex-offenders are dangerous psychopaths. However the vast majority can be rehabilitated and lead normal productive lives.

Forced to the edges of society, Sex Offenders don’t have access to jobs, rehabilitation services or even basic housing. They are forced into a life where crime seems like their only logical path. Their crimes vary but they are often loathsome acts, making it easy to dismiss their perpetual punishment. But this is when it’s most important for us to take a stance for justice. The goal of our judicial system should be to prevent crime and rehabilitate criminals, regardless of their offenses. Punishing criminals without giving them a chance to rectify their wrongs is inhumane and it should be illegal. It’s time we start acting as the advanced society we know we are.

The Ex-Offender Files w/ I.B.Wise and Dr. Kim

    in Current Events

WOL Radio has had some very informative shows on some very informative issues from ex-offender re-entry to abolishment of the death penalty to requesting that DNA testing being done in McLean Co. Illinois.

We have talked to a lot of people who are suffering from the ill effects of being incarcerated for multiple tens of years in most cases taking away their childhood, we have talked about sex-offenders and their plight.

Tonight we want to reach outside the box and speak with those who are suffering from the hardship of having a loved one serving life.

I know how hard this can be on families, spouses and children. Come share with people who care..

Ex-Offender Files - Second Chance programs that need a second chance!!!

    in Culture

All across the country in every state there are programs that are designed to help ex-offenders get there lives back on track. They call them re-entry programs and second chance programs but are they?

They are supposed to help yet ex-offenders are still being discriminated against.

We can't get jobs because of our convictions and we will always be considered second class citizens of the mistakes we made.

Employment services say that there are felon friendly employers who provide lists of companies and that wil hire ex-offenders and through my research I have not found an updated list to date..

Ex Files panalist Eric Mayo provides information needed to help ex-offenders with the tools needed to overcome the obsticles we face in his book http://www.jailtojob.com

    and his blog   http://howfelonscangetjobs.com

Re-Entry Programs are available and some are productive but the majority of themhave the same structured inviornment, One-Step Job Search , Resume Writting , Tips on how to dress and how to present yourself to an employer.

There has to be more that can be done to help the so-called unhelpable.

We can reduce the recidivism rate with an opportunity and we can have an opportunity with the knowledge that people are willing to give us a chance....

We need help and we need to be helped which means banning the box and removing the mindset that once a felon always a felon...
