Citizens Called to Public Hearing about Palmetto Pipeline Threat on April 21

    in Business

Local citizens are asked by the Facebook group Push Back the Pipeline and Ogeechee and Savannah Riverkeepers to join together to voice their displeasure at the proposed pipeline and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT)’s handling of this process. The collaboration invites all concerned persons to meet and discuss the implications of this project at the GDOT public hearing on Tuesday, April 21 at the Richmond Hill City Center (520 Cedar Street) beginning at 5 p.m.

Kinder Morgan, the largest energy infrastructure company in North America, plans to build the buried pipeline to transport gasoline, ethanol and diesel from the Gulf Coast to the South East. The company applied to the GDOT for a certificate of public convenience and necessity, which if approved, will authorize it to condemn property from private citizens and cannot be appealed. Time is running out on the 90-day period to fight the application and after the GDOT public hearing on Tuesday, April 21, it will be too late for citizens to voice their issues.

Top Reasons Why Citizens Against the Palmetto Pipeline:
    • Eminent Domain for a Private Company is WRONG.
    • Big Oil Monopoly = Higher prices at the pump.
    • 250 Georgia jobs lost.
    • Private Property will be TAKEN.
    • Georgia deserves answers from Kinder Morgan not Empty Promises.
    • Pipeline would endanger rivers, marshes and wetlands.
    • Palmetto pipeline is not earthquake proof; Savannah and Coastal Georgia run along a fault line and are exposed to seismic risk.

A rally is also scheduled for Saturday, April 18 at noon on Johnson Square in Savannah, but it is believed that the real impact will come from the demonstration presented at the GDOT public hearing on Tuesday, April 21.

Stovetop Politics with Virginia Kruta - Mar 23, 2015

    in Politics Conservative

Scott Walker sold out to ethanol subsidies - to the point that he is allowing the establishment to tell him who to hire.

Also, Ted Cruz is running for President. So far, this comes to no one's surprise. But it has brought out a brand new crop of insane birthers and people willing to use 20 year old stories about Cruz's wife's struggles with depression to poke holes in his campaign.

Cruz, however, poked a hole in his own campaign by allowing tedcruz.com to be bought up by a pro-Obama group.

We'll even get Stephen to weigh in on all of this!

Sunday on the Front Stoop, What is a green airport?

    in Energy

This morning we talk to pilots Grazia Zanin and Max Shauck about green airports.  Max and Grazia made history in 1989 when they flew accoss the Atlantic Ocean with ethanol fuel.  They were awarded the Harman trophy for this accomplishment. They are lifelong advocates of renewable energy and in particular the benefits of ethenol fuel in airplanes.  Commercial airlines are at this time using diesel fuel.   Ethanol is a clean burning aviation fuel.   Max and Grazia want to build a "green airport' where for one thing, pilots will be trained in planes that use ethanol.  They will discribe for us the full picture of what is involved with building a 'green airport' and the reasons why it is important to transition commercial airlines to ethanol fuel.

    Who's in Charge/Creepy Tales

    in Education

Friday, October 17, 2014, 8:00 PM Eastern Time

    Calling all Patriots,

We invite you to join us for the next installment of “Who’s in Charge.”

We are coming to the end of another week on our continuing journey getting answers and discovering solutions for those things we all need to have control over in our own lives if we are ever going to be able to say “We are the person in charge!”

Mike will continue with the second half of his in-depth discussion of the history, legalities, and science behind the myths, and truth about the production, distribution, and use of Ethanol as a viable alternative liquid transportation fuel.

Mike will be laying out a very simple grass-roots plan that will cost Washington, DC not one red cent that we can put into action Right now, TODAY, that would take the USA from an energy importer to an energy exporter in less than 180 days, totally breaking our dependence on Middle Eastern oil while eliminating our annual foreign trade deficit and turning it into a $300 Billion per year trade surplus which could be put to a much better use here at home for our crushing national debt or to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure.

It’s no different for any country in the world as it is for each of us as individuals. Unless you are doing something to get into the alternative energy game You Are Not In Charge of anything, including your own life!

    A little about Mike’s credentials:

Mike started working on energy independence for himself and our nation, long before he was a physics major in college.

He has conducted experiments, made innovations, and invented components and systems to decentralize/localize power sources for home, industry, and transportation for over 50 years.

    Q & A on Ethanol for boats

    in Business

NMMA's John McKnight joined us to answer your questions about ethanol. Here's some background:
Today’s boats and marine engines are designed to operate on E-10.
The EPA has received a waiver from Growth Energy to increase the ethanol content in gasoline to 15%.
The EPA has until December to decide whether or not to allow 15% ethanol in the US gasoline supply.
Engine manufacturers will be working with the Department of Energy this summer to begin testing E-15 on select engines.
The move towards increasing the ethanol content in gasoline is being driven by the mandate that requires 36 billion gallons of bio fuel in the US fuel supply by 2022.

This week on the We Grow Ours show, Nick and Don talk with Mike Leister of TacticalWoodgas.com. As you know Nick has a “Thing for gas” and alternative energy. Nick has of coarse talked Don into helping with a few of these crazy alternative energy ideas and we have done a basics of gasification episode in the past (Episode 10 only on prepperbraodcasting.com) as well as Episode 11 on distilling your own fuel. We think Mike brings the product that we have been looking for. In fact, after this episode Nick and Don are looking at bringing “Hostile Power” to the public, another project Nick started a while ago.

ETR 115 What E15 Ethanol Really Means

    in Energy

In today’s episode, Jane Van Ryan interviews Al Jessel, co-chair of the Coordinating Research Council (CRC) about a plan being considered by the EPA which would raise the amount of ethanol in gasoline from 10 percent to 15 or 20 percent.
