Chicago's notorious gang crime has made international headlines, and probably cost the city its recent bid to host the Olympics. Some have complained that Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart has responded more like a politician than a law enforcer when it comes to addressing tactics to end street crime. Sylvester Baker, with an extensive background in law enforcement, is vying to become the new sheriff in town. Will his views on crime prevention and his plans to rehabilitate those encarcerated for crimes change the violent climate in Chicago and surrounding Cook County? Or is the problem of crime so extensive that merely changing the face in the sheriff''s office isn't enough? What can Sylvester Baker do that hasn't been done by Thomas Dart, and how will it affect criminal justice and crime prevention in Cook County?

We all know that a parent child relationship is one of the most important relationships you'll ever have in life. Specifically the bond that is created between mother and child which is formed during the first two years of life. What happenes to the development of these children when they are separated from their Mom who is incarcerated? Studies say that children with encarcerated parents are five times more likely to commit crimes. Could this be true?
It is again our honor to have as our distinguished guest tonight, Mr. Stanley Cohen. It is with dismay that this will be our last time speaking with Mr Cohen before he has to surrender himself to authorities on January 6th to serve out a sentence for, in our opinion, what ammounts to BS tax code violations that should not require jail time. Even Rep. Grimm of NY pled guilty to actual tax evasion and still gets to stay in congress.
All that aside, something tells us, he is secretly looking forward to his time behind bars. He said that he intends to use his time to help those encarcerated due to miscarriages of justice. I'm sure there are more than enough of those to keep him occupied.
We learned last week, thanks to a Guardian expose, that Stanley had played a major role in negotiations for the life of US hostage Peter Kassig from his ISIS captors. The effort was seemingly thwarted by, at the very least, inaction by US officials. Kassig was later beheaded.
We shall find out what comes next for this defender of the defenders. "Up The Rebels"
