Emerson Collins is an actor, producer and TV personality who currently stars on BRAVO’s newest hit social series The People’s Couch, writes as a regular contributor to the Dallas Voice and hosts The Del & Emerson Show, UBN Radio’s number one weekly show.
Emerson produced and starred in Southern Baptist Sissies, the film of the play by Del Shores, with Leslie Jordan, Dale Dickey, Bobbie Eakes and Willam Belli. The film played 28 film festivals, winning 15 awards including 9 Audience Awards and one for Emerson as "Best Actor in a Feature Film" from the Red Dirt International Film Festival. The film was produced through Emerson's company Beard Collins Shores Productions and played in independent theaters in fifteen cities and is now available on DVD, Amazon and iTunes.
As an actor, Emerson is also known for his work as “Max” in Del Shores’Sordid Lives: The Series. Emerson co-produced the twelve-episode television series for domestic distribution with LOGO and IMG International for distribution and successful syndication in seventeen foreign markets. He also produced the New York City, Los Angeles and Palm Springs premieres of the series in conjunction with The Trevor Project and Outfest.

Today @ 1pm (CST) my special guest is David Emerson, E-RYT, Founder and Director of Yoga Services for the Trauma Center at the Justice Resource Institute in Brookline Massachusetts, where he coined the term “trauma-sensitive yoga” and author of the book “Trauma-Sensitive Yoga in Therapy”. He is the co-author of “Overcoming Trauma through Yoga”.
Trauma exposure is ubiquitous in our society. Over half the general population report having had exposure to at least one traumatic event over their lifetime, with 5% of men and 10.4% of women developing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
PTSD has a debilitating negative impact on the overall quality of life of the individual. Seventy-four percent of the individuals diagnosed with PTSD are symptomatic for more than six months and may experience symptoms for years.

Oklahoma recruit Jean Delance said he withdrew his commitment to coach Bob Stoops after seeing a video that showed fraternity members at the school chanting racist remarks.
"Very uneducated people. I wouldn't want my son or child to go there or to anywhere like that," Delance told CBS 11 in Dallas-Fort Worth on Monday. "It was just very disturbing to me. I didn't like it."

Delance, a four-star offensive lineman who is ranked No. 272 on the ESPN Junior 300, committed to the Sooners in November and visited Norman with his mother, Altavian, last weekend.
But when they returned to their home in Mesquite, Texas, the video, in which members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon also indicated that African-Americans would never be admitted to the fraternity, prompted them to rethink the commitment.
"I've had family history in racial issues, inequality," Altavian Delance told CBS 11. "Jean knows these things are serious to us."

Claudia Emerson, a former mail carrier who turned to writing in middle age and received the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for poetry for her book “Late Wife,” an elegiac collection of verses illuminating the complex legacies wrought by divorce and death, died Dec. 4 at a hospital in Richmond. She was 57.

Claudia's book of poems, Late Wife, won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 2006. Her current work, Secure the Shadow, is a personal look at death and our universal need to hold on. Claudia had a distinguished career and was awarded fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Library of Congress and the Guggenheim Foundation and is the former poet laureate of Virginia. She was a professor of English and Arrington Distinguished Chair of Poetry at The University of Mary Washington and contributing editor at Shenandoah Literary Magazine. She was also a lovely human being.
