Denise Griffitts interviews Meridith Elliot Powell
An internationally certified coach, consultant, speaker and author, Meridith Elliott Powell has earned an enthusiastic following among industry leaders across the nation.
Meridith’s career began in sales and marketing and transitioned into executive positions in finance and commercial banking. This background gives her the unique ability to bring the “numbers side” and the “people side” of a business together, working towards common goals.
After achieving her business coaching certification, Meridith became gold master certified in Strategic Planning by the Haines Centre and the University of San Diego. She is among only a handful of strategists to hold this certification. Meridith increased her knowledge of communication styles, human behaviors and their impact on professional development by earning her master certification as a Human Behavior Specialist. She then achieved second level certification in Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
Meridith is the author of one of my most recommended business books, "Winning in the Trust and Value Economy: A Guide to Sales Success and Business Growth: A Guide to Sales Success and Business Growth". In fact, this is the first book of 2015 that my online Facebook book club will be reading and Meridith will be joining us to discuss the principles in the book.
Today we will be talking about business in the New Year. Just Own It - about creating cultures where employees are inspired to step up to the plate, take ownership and help drive results.

Following the Conservative Political Action Conference, everyone is prescribing different paths to victory for the GOP. But what exactly is the surefire way to win, and who do they think is their best shot? On this episode of Rational Culture Elliot points out that once again, philosophy is the motive power of any culture, and conservatives and Republicans still have some housecleaning to do philosophically.
In the modern culture, the dollar sign ($) is used to indicate avarice, greed, obscene wealth. Cartoon characters, usually villains, have vaults filled to the brim with sacks of gold emblazened with '$'. Money has become a bad thing, a bad word. But what exactly is money? Is it the root of all evil, like so many have said? What about the *love* of money?
On this week's Rational Culture with Elliot Rivera, the history behind the sign of the dollar is examined and, using the famous speech made by Francisco D'Anconia in Atlas Shrugged, Elliot formulates a defense of money, the profit motive, capitalism - and the love of it all.
