This week, Travel Today with Peter Greenberg from Cairo, Egypt. We’ve been broadcasting at least once every year from Egypt since 1998. Tourism numbers are down drastically in Egypt, but, as a veteran traveler to the region, Peter argues that this is perhaps the best time to go! You’ll find hardly anyone at the pyramids, and while more than 300 boats usually travel down the Nile in Luxor, this year only about six are operating. Joining Peter will be John Boulding, CEO of Insight Vacations to discuss why his boat, the Tosca, is running—as business is slowly starting to improve.
A few ambassadors also stop by to give their situation report on Cairo and the rest of the country. Then, we go on a quick detour to visit celebrity Chef John Besh to talk about another city that knows all too well about recovery: New Orleans (especially as we near the tenth anniversary of Katrina). All of this and more during this week’s episode of Travel Today with Peter Greenberg from Cairo, Egypt.
Mr. Tarek Saad El Din, Governor of Luxor, Egypt, addresses the safety concerns of traveling to Egypt and why travelers should not worry about visiting the country. He explains that the media has only focused on one square meter where there is conflict and all surrounding areas are safe.
Inspired by the work of R. A. Schwaller de Lubicz, the authors deeply examine creation myths and well-known ancient myths from Mesopotamia and Egypt, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh and the story of Osiris and Isis. They reveal that these myths are not behavioral morality tales but actual delineations of how a higher order can arise within each of us. The authors explain how these stories teach us to distinguish the heaven within from the earth within us, to find the essential part of our being that provides a link with our higher powers.
Spending more than a year onsite in Egypt to personally connect with the myths, the authors explain how ancient storytellers intentionally chose myths as a vehicle for teachings because story has a seed—like capacity to implant itself in the unconscious and influence development without the individual being aware of it. By crafting these sacred narratives, the ancient Sumerians and Egyptians provide tools to awaken to the presence of higher consciousness as well as a road map for the individual to come into conscious alignment with the perpetual unfolding of the universe.
Lloyd M. Dickie, Ph.D., has a master’s degree from Yale University and a doctorate from the University of Toronto. A retired ecologist and former professor of oceanography and biology at Dalhousie University, he has studied ancient Egypt for more than 30 years, including many active site explorations. Paul R. Boudreau is an ecologist and biologist who studies ancient myths and sites, including onsite explorations of Egyptian temples, tombs, and pyramids. Both authors live in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

In 2008 Dr. David Imhotep received the first Ph.D. concentrating in ancient African history from Union University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has served as President of the Egyptology Society at the Miami Museum of Science & Planetarium and was the founder of A.S.C.A.C. in Miami established in 1991. He has been featured in several magazines as the Journal of Black Studies, entitled the “African Aqualithic Period.” This book is the first in a series of books designed to cause any books about ancient African history to be rewritten.
An increasing number of historical and archaeological finds made around the world have been classified as "out-of-place artifacts" (ooparts). They have been called this because they appear unexpectedly among the ruins of the past with no evidence of a preceding period of development their technological sophistication seems far beyond the capabilities of ancient peoples [because they predated the civilizations that followed.] Drawing on the literature and art of the Chaldeans, Sumerians, Babylonians and others [who actually were able to witness these ooparts], Rene Noorbergen's contention is that a superior race of man was responsible for these scientific marvels that bear testimony to a civilization with technology comparable to our own.
