Congenital heart defects are the number one birth defect yet there are few movies depicting members of the congenital heart defect (CHD) community or CHD themes. "Silent Cries" is a movie written by the father of a child with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. What makes "Silent Cries" so touching is how it has brought the CHD community together in ways unforeseen when it was first conceptualized. One of the ways it has brought people together is by turning its key handlers from being a philanthropist in the CHD and nonprofit communities into an executive producer for this show. A new team brought with it new collaboration and a new title. Find out who this producer is, how she became involved with the movie and why "Silent Cries" need to be silenced no longer.
Jon Bibbs is a triple threat-singer, songwriter, and producer. But that only scratches the surface. He’s also an accomplished musician, philanthropist, and educator.
His musical journey began in 1984 at age of 2 when his mother enrolled him in piano classes at Virginia Commonwealth University. He became known as a musical prodigy. By age 12 he was performing with the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 1999, Jon enrolled at Hampton University where he continued to nurture his musical gifts. In 2001 he made his vocal debut with True Story and Red, followed by Color of Love in 2003. It was 2005 release of Unbreakable that catapulted him as an underground soul music staple throughout the entire eastern region. As his fan base grew, Jon found himself recording and sharing the stage with notable artists such as Ledisi, Melanie Fiona, Wiz Khalifa, Roy Ayers, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, SWV, Kardi’nal Official, Morris Day & the Time, Bilal, Eric Roberson, Anthony David, Conya Doss, Raheem DeVaughn, and Chuck Brown.
Aside from the music, Jon has found a remarkable niche in the field of education. As the owner/administrator of Richmond Preparatory, a private academy in Richmond, VA, he provides students a basis in Christian principles with a focus on reading instruction and the arts. He’s also a sought after lecturer for his presentations on music as a creative expression, church music, and musical historiography.
This summer Jon will be awarded an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from Virginia University of Lynchburg and will be named lead developer of their Fine Arts Department. Jon is also the founder of the National Order of D.R.A.G.O.N.S, a co-ed fraternal order that is based on the philosophical pillars of knowledge, honor, achievement, political power, social change and economic independence for people of color. The organization has three chapters nationally and nearly 200 members.

Marilyn Schlossbach is well known at the Jersey Shore and beyond as a chef, restaurateur and philanthropist. Now she’s adding another moniker to her impressive credentials – cookbook author. And because this is Marilyn’s cookbook, it will be a showcase of her community involvement and is aptly titled Eat This Community. We’ll get all the details about the new cookbook and when it will be available. Profits from the cookbook will be used to support some of her favorite causes, among them the Kula Café in Asbury Park, which is a collaboration with Interfaith Neighbors, and Clean Ocean Action, an environmental organization that works to protect coastlines and marine environments. Marilyn is a self-taught chef and entrepreneur who went from marketing student, to waitress, to the chef du cuisine of Oshin, one of NJ’s first Asian Fusion restaurants to open in the 1980s. She has not looked back since first stepping behind the line in 1982 to cover for her brother and head chef at Oshin, spending the last 30 years developing her culinary style through travel, self-instruction, and an unwavering passion for gastronomy. In 2014, she was named one of NJ’s 2014 Best 50 Women in Business by NJBIZ, NJ’s premiere business news publication. Marilyn was also named one of NJ’s Top 25 Leading Women Entrepreneurs of 2014, as announced by the Leading Women Entrepreneurs and Business Owners (LWE) Initiative. Each year they choose a group of business women who exhibit outstanding performance and achievement in business and marketing innovation, community involvement, and advocacy for women. LWE cited Schlossbach for excellence and leadership in each one of these areas. After the interview, please check out After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.
