Desvendando "O evangelho aos Hebreus" (Unraveling "The gospel to the Hebrews")

    in Christianity

No. 132. Sant Mat Satsang PODcast 8-23-12: A Vegetarian Jesus

    in Spirituality

Sant Mat Satsang PODcast 8-23-12: Evidence that Jesus and the Original Aramaic Christians Were Vegetarians
Research into the question of the vegetarian diet, Jesus and the original Christian movement of Palestine is presented. Some who oppose traditional Sant Mat, including certain quasi "Western Light and Sound groups", sometimes make propaganda against us by citing passages from the New Testament about eating meat. They falsely argue that, in their view, "Jesus ate meat and therefore we should eat meat too". This is put to rest and dealt with rather thoroughly as we explore the teachings of the Hebrew Christians. Those in Jerusalem -- Jesus's own family and spiritual successors headed by the Apostle James -- the brother of Jesus and next leader of the Aramaic-speaking Jerusalem Community -- were all vegetarian. They disagreed with Paul's sect about diet. They also composed their own Gospels.

Early Christianity: The Battle for the Proto-Orthodoxy

    in Religion

In our ongoing series, today I will discuss the early developments between Marcion and Ebionite thought and how these two groups became a large factor in how the face of Christian doctrine would be developed. Traces of the impact of these two groups can be seen on the face of much Christian belief here in our time. Who was Marcion and what did he reason was the purpose of Jesus? What were some of the beliefs that caused the early Gentile followers of Jesus to not be overly excited about the Ebionite practices? These questions and more as we study the early formations of our faith.
