Mary E., and her team welcome B. Berry to ArtSees Diner Radio, Author's Corner. Berry is celebrating the release of an outstanding new release, "Clothesline Blues."
In addition to CLOTHESLINE BLUES, B. Berry has written two murder mysteries, using Boston, Massachusetts as the backdrop. COLD CRAZY is a story of a young beautiful nurse who has been brutally and senselessly murdered. COLD SERIAL is about a serial killer who is terrorizing young women.
Although B. Berry prefers to write about murder, her first book, EVEN NUMBERS is a story of a young girl who was molested by her father and then ultimately raised by him. She would like to keep the subject of child molestation and child rape in the forefront of our minds.

B. Berry has created some amazing characters in Clothesline Blues. They display the emotions
we have all felt from time to time; love, passion, hate. The sisterhood that is shown between
neighbors Hilda and Pearl is deeply human, respectful, trusting and something we all want in our lives. Ms. Berry's backdrop of the turbulent sixties comes to the forefront of the page time and again, enriching the humanity of those who lived through it, while opening the eyes of a new generation to what really occurred during the civil rights era. This novel is one that should be required reading in schools and is destined for the best-sellers list.

The couple had been relatively happy for many years, but when Frank’s discontentment caused him to become mean and abusive, Hilda knew it was time to make a major change in her life. She yielded to the advances of a younger man who was head of a chapter of the Black Movement Coalition. Hilda was determined to be with him and after many sleepless nights, she came up with a solution – she would get rid of Frank. She enlisted the help of Pearl, her best friend and neighbor. Although Pearl battled her own demons, she vowed to stick by her friend…no matter what. Bonded by secrets, lies and murder, it’s hard to imagine two women will find the peace and happiness they so desperately seek...or is it?
It is a valid conclusion that everyone wants to feel appreciated - no matter who you are! However, it seems as if more and more men are feeling less and less appreciated in their relationships - and especially so in their marriages. For the most part, most are not verbally saying it or are even able to put this on going discontentment into words; they simply act out the symptoms of it. Some of it is evident in the recent increase in the number of successful strip clubs and frequently visited online sites that are popping up all over America and on the internet. Another common symptom is men and cheating! Unlike popular belief, more men cheat from a place of feeling powerless and unappreciated in their relationships and marriages than all other reasons combined. The real question is: How can anyone feel appreciation from someone else who doesn't necessarily feel it for themselves and vise versa? Jion Nalagy & Jahwie this week as we discuss...Be there!

Dear _______, Are You Missing Your Calling?
This book is written for me, and people like me, who have or will at some point in their lives address questions concerning calling and purpose. The thoughts may come about due to discontentment with what you have or have not accomplished in your life, a sudden unveiling of hidden talents and gifts, or from a highly accomplished individual who appears to have everything, but deep within lies a burning desire for something more, something deeper.
Whatever your life journey, everyone has an appointed time. Your calling does not have an age or time limitation. It is an issue of action!
So often individuals find themselves in a place of discontentment, unsatisfied, and at times troubled. Some people may need a push to propel them forward. This segment for Monday Morning Joy we are going to encourage ourselves, and begin to be transformed into all we have been called to do by 'Doing it!'
It seems in a world of "get all you can before it runs out" mentality is alive and well in today's culture. How can we learn as Christians to be content and satisfied with what we have? How can we keep that bitter seed of discontentment from capturing our hearts and minds? Understanding these questions can perhaps keep us from living a "same old life" approach and truly enjoy what God has given us. Our marriages, Godly friendships, and those great spiritual blessings we take for granted. Perhaps this can keep us from those sinful addictive lifestyles that so easily entangles and keep us focused on Christ.
Mindset is a Road - Mindstyle is a river. Mindset is fixed - Mindstyle is flexible. Mindset resists - Mindstyle redirects.
Many great teachers advise us that what we resist persists and that the things we focus on are the things we draw into our lives. If we follow these ideas they lead to the conclusion that our experiences of unhappiness, discontentment, and/or dissatisfaction, are the result of resistance and paying attention to the wrong things. Often our greatest challenge is to accept things we cannot change, the stuff that just ‘is the way it is’, even though in hindsight we usually can see we had no choice, in the moment we burn ourselves up or out or both, ‘tilting at windmills’. On the inside this can show up as focusing our thoughts, feelings, and emotions on negative situations and circumstances that have been and gone or that have yet to actually happen. When we are convinced that things can only be a ‘certain’ way we suffer and struggle unnecessarily striving for things to be different from how they are and must be.

Contentment seems to be an elusive quality in the population. In some countries, discontentment which drives the urgent pursuit of wealth is applauded, and contentment sometimes paralleled with laziness, or a lack of ambition.
The qualitative outcome of a Prosperity Game I was recently a part of, raised this issue as participants of the game were encouraged to play and receive increasing amounts of wealth from 'the Universe', and some expressed as sense of 'ENOUGH' and were ready to quit, and the dialogue that came out of that sense of what is enough, was the inspiration for this show.
When is enough, enough? What is your limit? Glass ceiling? How do we reconcile a feeling of contentment with a pursuit of wealth?
One thing is for certain, mindset is behind the answer to this question. It could determine your sense of contentment, now and in the future; and it can determine what you determine is ENOUGH in your life. Join me, and expand your mindset and possibilities
