A big part of my prepping recently has been centered around communications. I’ll discuss how and why I used FRS radios, CB radios, and my weatheradio. Also, having just completed my HAM radio course I’ll let you know what to expect if you’re thinking of getting your certificate. Also, I’ll tell you about my experiences with gardening, which has turned out to be a much longer setup period than I though and took a much bigger learning curve than I ever thought I would need. I’ll talk a bit about dehydrating food with my almost new Excalibur dehydrator and how it compares to other methods of food storage like home canning.

Last, but certainly not least, I’ll talk about the two day power failure we went through this fall and tell you about all the lessons I learned about how much energy I needed in comparison to how much I thought I would use. Don’t worry though, it all worked out in the end in regards to fuel storage, and I’ll tell you why.

On today's show we will chat with Kristina Freeman of Reliance Outdoor Supply.
Reliance is a mom and pop business that specializes in camping, home and garden. But if you think the scope of their business stops there then you're in for a surprise. A large portion of their products are dedicated to encouraging low-impact and self-reliant living. They also offer educational classes inside of their 5,000 square foot building. Classes happen throughout the year ranging from the basics of car camping to building your own solar food dehydrator.
We know that attendees to the AutoRama El Paso will be in for a treat when they swing by the Reliance Outdoor Supply booth over the weekend of January 25-27, 2013. We'll see you at the show!
