This week on Fieldstone Common, Marian Pierre-Louis interviews CS Manegold, author of Ten Hills Farm: The Forgotten History of Slavery in the North.
Ten Hills Farm tells the powerful saga of five generations of slave owners in colonial New England. Settled in 1630 by John Winthrop--who would later become governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony--Ten Hills Farm was a six-hundred-acre estate just north of Boston. Winthrop, famous for envisioning his 'city on the hill' and lauded as a paragon of justice, owned slaves on that ground and passed the first law in North America condoning slavery.
In this mesmerizing narrative, C. S. Manegold exposes how the fates of the land and the families that lived on it were bound to America's most tragic and tainted legacy. Challenging received ideas about America and the Atlantic world, Ten Hills Farm digs deep to bring the story of slavery in the North full circle--from concealment to recovery. Manegold follows the compelling tale from the early seventeenth to the early twenty-first century, from New England, through the South, to the sprawling slave plantations of the Caribbean.
C. S. Manegold is the author of In Glory's Shadow: The Citadel, Shannon Faulkner, and a Changing America (Knopf). As a reporter with the New York Times, Newsweek, and the Philadelphia Inquirer, she received numerous national awards and was part of the New York Times team honored with a Pulitzer Prize in 1994.

Now Celtic Fan's look toward stop number 2 on the road to next season. Which comes in just over 2 weeks on June 26th. The 2014 NBA Draft. Michael Dyer of Fox 25 and Jay O of redsarmy.com will join us to discuss the latest updates on the bidding wars for Kevin Love's services. Also he will give us his own opinion on if getting Kevin Love is the answer to getting the Celtic's back to being a playoff team or does he feel their is someone else that Danny ainge and the Celtic's should get that would be a better fit.

The great writer, theologian, and apologist C.S. Lewis once said, "Aim at Heaven and you will get Earth thrown in: aim at Earth and you will get neither."
Today, too many people are aiming at Earth and missing Heaven by a long shot. People work hard to obtain everything they've ever wanted. They push to get everything this world has to offer -- cars, clothes, jewelry, appliances, or the newest electronic device. Many of these same people find their satisfaction in the things they own. They live for the thrill of getting some new item that they have long desired. Sadly, people cling to things and are consumed by the pursuit of things they think will make them happy, attractive, or fulfilled.
Today, our society is more materialistic than ever. People want, and work hard to get what they want. And, yet, they continue to feel unfulfilled and restless. They are consumed by the idea that there is something more out there for them -- that what they have is not enough. Even though they may have everything they have ever wanted, they still don't have it all.
This constant craving for material things is futile and foolish. The Bible says, " Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied." We get bored with things after a while. Stuff does not last. It decays and gets old. It can be taken away -- stolen, destroyed by accident, or destroyed in a natural disaster.

Let the Rumors an Sweepstakes begin. Now that the NBA Draft Lottery has come an gone the rumors of where Minnesota Timberwolves Power Forward Kevin Love will play next season now begin. Kevin Love has already informed the Wolves that he does not want to play for them after his contract expires which is after next season. So the Wolves now have to decide whether to trade Love and get something back in exchange or keep him for 1 more hoping he changes his mind but risk losing him for nothing. There are several teams who are in on the Love trade sweepstakes. The Warriors, Lakers, Bulls and yes the Boston Celtics are in the running. Today we will break down where each of those teams ranks amongst each other in terms of who has the best chance to get Love. As well as give you some insight as to what each of those teams has to offer. The latest reports say the Celtic's are the front runners due to what they can not only offer the wolves in terms of a package but also what else they can do for the wolves when it comes to giving the rebuilding team the 2 things rebuilding teams need which are Draft Picks and Cap Space
Please join me Tuesday June 17th at 11am CS as I discuss the gifts of healing.
From The Old Testament all the way through the New Testament its always Gods desire to heal.
We have to know His will, His Nature and His Character to really understand Gods will.
Those who don't know Him - don't understand His will. And you have to know the codebreaker-
The Holy Spirit to righly divide The Word Of God.
My son, to my words give attention, To my sayings incline thine ear, (Proverbs 4:20)
Let them not turn aside from thine eyes, Preserve them in the midst of thy heart. (Proverbs 4:21)
For life they [are] to those finding them, And to all their flesh healing. (Proverbs 4:22)
Above every charge keep thy heart, For out of it [are] the outgoings of life. (Proverb
Question: Is it safe to exercise with a medical condition?
It depends on your medical condition, but most of the time exercise is not only OK, it will improve your condition if you approach it in the right way. You should always talk to your doctor and get medical clearance if you have any medical issues. Some of the situations that may warrant a doctor's visit include:
Heart problems or high blood pressure
If you're over 65 and starting an exercise program
If you've been sedentary for over a year
If you have diabetes
If you're pregnant
If you have problems with dizziness or fainting
You're recovering from an injury or illness
If you've been diagnosed with any type of medical condition or illness
When you do see your doctor, there are some questions you can ask to make sure you leave with all the information you need:
What exercises or activities should I avoid?
Are there any exercises that can help my situation?
Will my medication affect my workouts?
How do I get started?
Do I need physical therapy before starting an exercise program?
Your doctor can help you figure out what exercises or activities you should avoid, but he or she may not be able to give you specific advice about how to set up a workout program. Once you get some general guidelines, you might consider hiring a personal trainer who has experience with your issues to get started with a specific program. When you're working around an injury or illness, you may have to be creative with your workouts, something an expert can help you with.
