The Ndustry Talks With Actress, Lourdes Colon!

    in Entertainment

This week on The Ndustry... Hosts Akia Uwanda and Nicole Lester talk with a remarkable woman and notable actress, Lourdes Colon!

Lourdes has made a notable impression as a versatile actress. This statuesque Emmy nominated beauty starred in the CBS’ hit series Without A Trace, by playing Anna Rodriguez. She was the host on the TV show series "The Movie Time Showcase" on The Omni Broadcasting Network. She also appeared on The District, the TV series The Women of Brewster Place, and films like The Kiss, Blood Oranges, Time Served, A Fine Line, The Killer Within, Expandable, and Amor Brujo. She was a remarkable working actress until she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which led her through her battle with cancer. Being holistic herself, she wanted to try a unconventional method of fighting cancer that didn’t require radiation or chemotherapy, so she created a her own unique option called “Option C.” She and her husband documented her whole emotional process and called it Create Option c: My Journey Through Cancer. Through donations, she was able to afford an holistic center that helps cancer patients battle this horrendous disease through natural medicine, however her journey was far from easy.

Lourdes felt that the current system for treating cancer was flawed and too harsh on the human body that it does more harm than good. After watching the people she cared most about in her life disintegrate before her eyes, she became an advocate for her option, because she survived cancer by implementing her own process. With the help of Esai Morales, Lourdes is able to spread her news globally through her documentary.

Los Angeles, CA – Have you felt stuck, wanting to shift out of unhealthy or self-defeating patterns into a more expanded life? Have you felt destined to achieve something great but don't know where to start? Are ready to make a change?

Lisa Tahir is a Counselor, Coach, Life Change Expert and founder of Nola Therapy, a New Orleans-originated therapy and coaching practice that has opened an office to serve the greater Los Angeles area. With more than 17 years of experience in the field of psychotherapy and social work, Lisa has helped thousands of individuals heal and they now live richer, fuller and healthier lives.

“I want to get the message out to promote emotional well-being and happiness to more people,” says Lisa. “I really love to listen and hear people’s stories. I intuitively understand what people have been through, where they’ve been and where they want to go.”

Lisa is also the author of the recently published SURRENDER: A Psycho-Spiritual Healing Guide For Depression And Anxiety. The book serves as an autobiography of her struggle and details a two-step visualization technique for coping with depression and anxiety.

"I am what happens when an everyday person becomes divinely inspired.  I've chosen to re-create what life gave me and Surrender, A Psycho-Spiritual Healing Guide For Treating Anxiety and Depression was birthed out of the trauma of being drugged and robbed in November of 2014,” says Lisa. “Using these techniques gave me the strength to feel better and handle the trauma one piece at a time. It was a struggle and I wanted to be vulnerable and share my story to help others know they are not alone and they can move through this."

Urban Therapy with Sun #138 Treating Them Like They're Grown

    in Lifestyle

What are the consequences to encouraging or allowing your kids to do things before they're old enough to understand them or process them?
Is growing up your kids too early a way of taking away their innocence? Do we live out our fantasies through our children sometimes? Is it right for us to do that? Do we set our kids up for trouble by letting them experience things that we may have had to wait to experience when we were their ages? What about when we let them experience things that we did experience at their ages even though it got us into trouble at their ages?

In your opinion, what is the right age to let your kids:

    Drink alcohol
Smoke weed or experiment with drugs
    Wear makeup
    Get into a serious relationship
    Date
    Have sex
    Get on birth control
    Travel on their own
    Drive a car
    Experiment with weapons
    Manage their own money
    Stay home alone
    Wear high heels
Purchase things for a girlfriend or a boyfriend
    Get a job
    Babysit
    Hang around with teenaged parents
    Etc

Do we allow our kids to grow and learn independently or do we navigate them through their young lives and and keep them safe?
