Helping "Older" Companion Animals - And Exciting Announcement

    in Self Help

The facts of life are that we are all getting "older" and that includes our companimals (companion animals.)  Some of us are buying into beliefs of what to expect with aging animals.  Yet there is a way to reverse those beliefs and help our companimals avoid some "aging" pitfalls that we thought were unavoidable.

Are you worried about how to care for them and what may develop?  Maybe you've been told that because your cat, dog, horse, etc., is "older" that you should expect certain issues.  What if that doesn't have to be true?

Join Susanne Peach, Animaleze® founder, as she discusses her groundbreaking work in helping animals live longer, happier, healthier lives.  She'll share success stories and offer suggestions and ideas that can change how we look at "aging" animals.   She has an almost 14-year-old Australian Shepherd mix dog who's been helping her become a pioneer in living and working with more "mature" animals.

Susanne wants you to be a pioneer, as well.  Changing how everyone views "mature" animals, breaking all limitations, and preconceived notions of what's expected when your hamster, llama, parrot, etc., reach a certain age.

If you have a younger companimal, tune in as you'll hear tips to help them, too.

(Some of the animals pictured here are 15 and 16.)

Susanne is also going to be announcing some big news on some upcoming, first-time-ever events catered to you, the animal lover.

Voices Carry for Animals # 36

    in Pets

    Hosted by Debbie Dahmer

Calls for Guests with any comments or questions will be taken last half hour of the show-9:00 pm CST.

GUESTS WILL BE:  Marla Stormwolf  Founder of  STOPCRUSH.org,  Anthony Damiano  Co-Founder,  Rae Castina, Director of Investigations at stopcrush.org

"This message is from the team at stopcrush.org. Considering that most animals do not have the capacity to voice their distress in human language, we thought that this message, on their behalf, would be appropriate to send out to citizens all over the world.

For those who do not realize, animal crush video does indeed, exist. The videos generally feature, but do not limit themselves to, small live animals, such as kittens, puppies, mice and bunnies being slowly tortured in the most horrific ways imaginable.
They are burned alive, cut with pruning sheers, nailed to the floor, skinned alive, beaten, stabbed and most often, they have their limbs crushed and broken, just to invoke more screams of agony. The majority of these videos share a common theme, the animals are incrementally crushed by scantily clad women in high heels. Those who purchase these videos, view them for sexual gratification. Basically speaking, the animal crush interest is an atypical sexual arousal toward the the horrific torture and distress of another life-form.

On Thursday, December 9th, 2010, President Obama signed into law, Congressman Elton Gallegly's initiative to ban animal crush videos in the Unites States of America.

GAG ORDER   With "ag gag" bills, Big Ag seeks to stifle reform

Inside windowless barns, sows chewed the bars of their gestation crates, confined so tightly that they couldn’t even turn around. Brown puddles had formed from a diarrhea outbreak. And piles of dead piglets were being gutted—so that their intestines could be fed to their mothers.

These images would have remained hidden there in Owensboro, Kentucky, if HSUS undercover investigators hadn’t videotaped the dark reality. It was hard to watch, but critical: The feeding of pigs to pigs violated state law. Other practices seemed to violate human decency.

“At the end of the day,” an investigator reported, a sow “started making the worst sound I have heard since I started working [here]. I ran to her and she had gotten her nose in between the leverage bar that opens and closes the feed trough and a bar on her cage. … [She] scraped her nose about an inch long [leaving] her mouth bleeding.”

If proposed “ag gag” laws are passed, moments like these will stay concealed from the American public. Introduced in state legislatures around the country the last few years at the behest of the meat, dairy and egg industry, the bills seek to criminalize whistleblowing by making it illegal to take video or photos on factory farms or to seek employment for the purpose of exposing abuse and food safety problems. They also sometimes require mandatory reporting with impossibly short timelines so that whistleblowers must “out” themselves and no pattern of abuse can be documented.
