Jeremiah 15:16 says, Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto
me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name,O LORD God of hosts.”Nothing satisfies the soul like the word of God. It is the food for the soul. Soul food.
I don’t know about you, but I just love me some good soul food. Fried chicken, collard green, black-eyed peas, sweet potatoes, cornbread and peach cobbler. It make you feel so delicious inside. What food is to the body the WORD of God is to the soul..The word of God comforts us and makes us feel good all over, inside and out.
Matthew 11:28 says, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Lots of times after I have eaten I am ready for rest. Philippians 3:15 says, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. So have you had your soul food today? First I have to get into God’s word and read and study it. I will then start craving it, desiring it, meditate it, chew on it until it becomes a part of me.

TODAY'S POEM: "Tread Softly" by Fanny Crosby
Our prayer motivator passage from the Word of God today is II Samuel 7:18-24.
Our prayer motivator quote today is from David Brainerd. He said: "God enabled me to so agonize in prayer that I was quite wet with perspiration, though in the shade and the cool wind. My soul was drawn out very much from the world, for multitudes of souls."
My personal encouragement for you today is this: There is great power through prayer to God. And there are great benefits from God in prayer. You will find as you trail through life that you will need God, and prayer invites God to work in, through, and for your life.
Our prayer motivator devotional today is titled "THE GREATEST OF ALL FORCES" part 2 from E.M. Bounds.
Few Christians have anything but a vague idea of the power of prayer; fewer still have any experience of that power. The Church seems almost wholly unaware of the power God puts into her hand; this spiritual carte blanche on the infinite resources of God’s wisdom and power is rarely, if ever, used—never used to the full measure of honouring God. It is astounding how poor the use, how little the benefits. Prayer is our most formidable weapon, but the one in which we are the least skilled, the most averse to its use. We do everything else for the heathen save the thing God wants us to do; the only thing which does any good—makes all else we do efficient.
To graduate in the school of prayer is to master the whole course of a religious life. The first and last stages of holy living are crowned with praying. It is a life trade. The hindrances of prayer are the hindrances in a holy life. The conditions of praying are the conditions of righteousness, holiness and salvation. A cobbler in the trade of praying is a bungler in the trade of salvation.
The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, from 7-8 pm ET (4-5 pm PT). The #TChat radio portion runs the first 30 minutes from 7-7:30 pm ET, followed by the #TChat Twitter chat from 7:30-8 pm ET.
Last week we talked about how we can identify, survive, or leave a poor company culture, and this week we’re going to talk about why HR pros need to support each other and help each other thrive.
HR professionals spend a lot of time taking care of the people within their organizations, but so many fall short on supporting themselves and others with the HR space? In some ways it's like the cobbler is good at his job but forgets to make shoes for his own kids.
Unfortunately HR can be an obstacle, not a conduit to accomplishing things for the organization, the employees or each other. Practitioners are focused on jobs versus careers. Beyond certification (controversial as it is now), HR pros don’t take enough time to network and help one another, but they can and should.
Join #TChat co-creators and hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as we learn more about how HR pros need to support each other and help each other thrive with this week’s guests: Keith Bogen, HR pro and chief networking officer of Whine & Dine Networking; Ed Han, wordsmith with a passion for networking and helping people put their professional best foot forward, especially on LinkedIn.

The History of Christianity #31
Our Scripture verse today is Hebrews 11:1 which reads: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Our quote today is from Justin Martyr. He said: "We do not seek to flatter you...but request that you judge on the basis of a proper and thorough investigation."
Today, we are examining "The Defense of the Faith" (Part 2) from Dr. Justo L. Gonzalez's fine book, The Story of Christianity (Volume 1).
Today's subject is Base Rumors and Lofty Criticism
During the reign of Marcus Aurelius, one such intellectual, Celsus, wrote a refutation of Christianity called The True Word. There he expressed the feelings of those who, like him, were wise and sophisticated. He wrote:
In some private homes we find people who work with wool and rags, and cobblers, that is, the least cultured and most ignorant kind. Before the head of the household, they dare not utter a word. But as soon as they can take the children aside or some women who are as ignorant as they are, they speak wonders...If you really wish to know the truth, leave your teachers and your father, and go with the women and the children to the women's quarters, or to the cobbler's shop, or to the tannery, and there you will learn the perfect life. It is thus that these Christians find those who will believe them.
At about the same time, the pagan Cornelius Fronto (frun-to) wrote a treatise against Christians that unfortunately has been lost. But the Christian writer Minucius (mi-noo-shee-uhs) Felix may be quoting him when he puts the following words in the mouth of a pagan:
