The DUFF (Movie)
Frumpy high-school senior Bianca (Mae Whitman) has a rude awakening when she learns that her classmates secretly know her as the DUFF -- designated ugly fat friend -- to her prettier and more popular pals. Desperate to reinvent herself, Bianca enlists the aid of Wesley (Robbie Amell), a charming joc… Morek. In order to save her senior year from becoming a complete disaster, Bianca must find the confidence to overthrow a judgmental student (Bella Thorne) and revolutionize the school's social order.
Designated Ugly Fat Friend (Urban Dictionary)
Two hot chicks at a bar will have a really nasty fat ugly friend hanging out with them, refered to as a "DUFF".
"Wow that fat DUFF is hanging out with those two attractive ladies, too bad."
When Laura Hayden is not killing patients–with laughter, she is killing it on stage as a stand-up comedian and inspirational speaker. Dr. Laura Hayden is a practicing physical therapist, touring comedian and speaker. Laura’s stand-up career started at the front of the classroom while she earned her Masters in Physical Therapy from Mount Saint Mary’s College. Her ability to highlight the humorous side of medicine led her classmates to nominate her to give their graduation commencement speech. To this day the faculty at Mount Saint Mary’s College still talk about that “infamous” commencement speech. Laura credits this as her first stand up performance.
The impact of Laura’s humor on her patients and classmates and her personal struggle with caretaker burnout led Laura to research the correlation of laughter on overall health—especially how it affects those charged with taking care of the sick and injured. Laura’s personal journey and research on the healing aspect of laughter led her to pursue her PhD in Physical Therapy from Boston University. The emphasis of her PhD was burnout and therapeutic laugher. Caregiver burnout is a serious issue in the medical industry and as a caregiver herself she understood how difficult it was to stay sane and positive when dealing with the stress. She found that laughter truly is the best medicine for patients, their loved ones, and the medical professionals working the front lines.
Today Laura lends her humorous take on the absurd, bizarre and rare moments that make living and healing such a great part of the human experience. Part of her mission to serve others, educate and entertain with kindness and humor, Laura crafts one-of-a-kind speeches and uplifting presentations that helps people cut loose and find the funny side of any situation. The prognosis . . .terminal laughter!

Join Sam and Caroline as they speak to Chris Fleming...
As early as he can remember, Chris Fleming was prone to experiencing extraordinary encounters in the form of ghosts and unexplained phenomena, from dark shadowy forms coming out of closets and dim corners, to glowing ghosts manifesting above grade school friends during sleepovers. As these experiences increased, Chris–fearfully at first–began studying the ghosts as they moved around the house and even interacted with him. Soon he grew aware of how they used telepathy to hear his thoughts, and even project themselves from one side of the room to another almost instantly. He also learned quickly that his fears were never hidden from them.
Growing up, Chris saw more than ghosts. Over time, he saw other entities that, to this day, he is still trying to comprehend. In addition to seeing angels and lights, on a few very remarkable and personal occasions he has felt a divine presence. He has also, however, encountered a variety of dark and negative forces. These demons and beings appeared in various forms, shapes and sizes, leaving Chris convinced at a young age that what we think we scientifically know and understand about our world is eclipsed by all that we don’t know or understand, but occasionally experience nonetheless.
At age seven, Chris began experimenting with a reel-to-reel player, capturing his first electronic voice phenomena (EVP) in the form of the words “Touch is me.” Using light bulbs, curtains, plastic containers and the Ouija board, Chris would attempt to contact the spirits of the house, inviting them to respond through various means. Even when he was accompanied by adult witnesses, classmates and neighborhood kids, light bulbs would dim, turn off, and occasionally explode. Curtains would go from hanging still to swaying back and forth. Plants would sway and doors would open and close.
James Davis is hilarious and arguably one of L.A.’s hottest comedians. Born and raised in South Los Angeles, James was blessed with comedic inspiration from his friends and past classmates from Crossroads High School in Santa Monica. Still considered one of the fresh faces in Hollywood, James has appeared in Hell Date, Russell Simmons Presents Stand Up at The El Rey, Pit Boss and written for the last six BET Awards and last five BET Hip Hop Awards. He also was a writer for Season 2 of Hell Date and a consultant on The Tony Rock Project. When he’s not stealing the spotlight on stage, James also performs at colleges and universities across the nation. He has hosted rap/comedy concerts featuring Drake, Big Sean, J. Cole, and Ryan Leslie.

Join me on Thursday, February 5th at 6pm EST. I'll chat with #1 New York Times, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Abbi Glines. Her Rosemary Beach, Sea Breeze, Vincent Boys series, and the Existence trilogy continue to excite young adult readers. Her upcoming novel, When I'm Gone: A Rosemary Beach Novel (The Rosemary Beach Series) will be released in April 2015. Readers will meet Mase Colt-Manning, a Texas heartthrob first introduced in Take a Chancewho comes to Rosemary Beach to stir things up!
I had an urge to fix all her problems. Which was stupid. She was doing fine without me. But something about those big eyes…
Mase Colt-Manning has always preferred his humble life as a Texas rancher to his birthright as the son of a legendary rock star. In fact, he rarely visits his father’s rarefied world in Rosemary Beach, especially if it means bunking at his vile half-sister Nan’s house—until one visit leads to a chance encounter with a young, gorgeous house maid who awakens him with her off-key but spirited imitation of a country music star…
Reese Ellis finally has her freedom. After escaping a lifetime of abuse from her parents and classmates for an undiagnosed learning disorder, she seizes the opportunity to be a house maid to some of the richest families in Rosemary Beach. But her job is in jeopardy when she causes an accident at the home of her most important client, Nan Dillon. When a hot, half-naked stranger with a cowboy’s swagger comes to her rescue, she’s intrigued—then afraid once he shows his own interest. Reese has never met a trustworthy man in her life. Will Mase be any different?

James D. White, RD, ACSM HFS, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Spokesman
Owner, President of Jim White Fitness & Nutrition Studios
Jim was honored to receive the 2010 Inside Business Top Forty Under 40 award for his outstanding professional achievements and his tremendous community involvement.
Most recently, however, he received a 2011 President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition Community Fitness Award. He is one of just 38 individuals across the country given this national honor for making sports, physical activity, fitness and nutrition-related programs available in their communities.
Growing up, Jim was not the biggest or strongest kid on the block. At 5’11”, 135 pounds, he was often seen as being too skinny by many of his classmates. In his junior year of high school, his brother introduced him to weight lifting. Jim’s dedication and persistence in the weight room helped him go from a 135-pound “weakling” to 195-pounds of “solid muscle.” He not only saw changes in his body, but he began seeing changes in other areas of his life: his energy levels skyrocketed, confidence soared, and motivation level remained high. He soon learned that leading a healthy lifestyle doesn’t only improve one’s body and health, but it can also have a positive influence on many areas of one’s life. This realization led him to carry out his lifelong mission - “Inspire others to have healthier and more fulfilling lives, which can be achieved through the proper exercise and nutrition.”
The parents of Kendrick Johnson, Jackie and Kenneth Johnson along with their attorney will come Center Stage tonight and give us an update on this case. Recently, a $100 million dollar civil lawsuit was filed naming several of Kendrick's classmates as being responsible for his death.
