What is happening on reservations and in society? How about Native American languages and culture? Education? Health? Where are young Native Americans going after high school? Fulton did a critical review of my book, and I can attest to the fact that he knows what h

Excerpts from a James Flaming Eagle Mooney's on NORML Radio on 07/28/2011

OGDEN -- The war on drugs may have been declared over by national drug czar Gil Kerlikowske in 2009, but the controversy over the laws in place to control drug use continues to incense people on both sides of the legal argument. According to LEAP - Law Enforcement Against Prohibition - the problems caused by America's drug laws warrant enough attention to be kept in the public consciousness.
James Mooney, a former undercover narcotics officer who is now a public speaker on behalf of LEAP, spoke about his experience at Tuesday's Weber County Commission meeting.
"I was about to arrest these people inside a home ... and I ended up hearing this little boy crying. I realized that I was about to take away his parents for 10 years and basically create an orphan. I realized that the basic structure of every civilization is the family, and the war on drugs is decimating our families," Mooney said.
LEAP is made up of former law enforcement officers and criminal justice system members who oppose current drug policies. The organization sends speakers to various public events to educate people about the judicial system's reasons for continuing the war on drugs.
"The only reason this thing has kept on going is because of money. The war on drugs is responsible for about 70 percent of all finances in the judicial system. It is an excuse to violate people's rights, and it is unconstitutional," Mooney said.
Reason for being involved in spreading the message of Operation Springtime is : Our country is in the throes of going the way of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. I'm a Native American who loves my Creator first, my country and then myself. History is the key to the past; pity that History is not taught in our schools . As a veteran will defend my country against all enemies foreign and domestic...Jefferson said.... "The tree

In this introduction to the June 23, 2001 Talking Circle at The Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center in Cambridge, MA. Connie Baxter Marlow shares her theory that the coming together of the visionary leaders of the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians set the stage for the creation of the American Mind and the American Spirit, a radically different spirit and mentality from the European. The peace treaty that the Massasoit and the Pilgrims drafted and signed on their first meeting was upheld for over 50 years. She maintains that this coming together on such a high level set the stage for the coming of Peace on Earth as prophesied by the Native peoples. She introduces Thunderbird Turtle Woman, Donna Augustine, MicMac; Grandfather Thunder, Arnie Neptune, Penobscot; Wallace Black Elk, Lakota - Spirit Interpreter.

This is an introduction of the Strong Heart Warrior Society. Identity is of the original Dog Solider Society. Its originality is with the Lakota Nation. It is the oldest of its kind. Many societies claim to be for their people, but few proved themselves and remain worthy of their people's trust. The Strong Heart Dog Soldier Society will remain. We are past, present, and forever. This brief mission statement gives credence to our traditional concepts. This society is alcohol- and drug-free. As a society with its own values of its kind, we are here. We are always forgotten, but we are forever.
