Fairy tales are the simplest experesion of archetypal patterns. Junians love to work with fairy tales and myths to better understand our personal dream stories, which often reflect these archetypal themes. While it seem as if many of our inherited fairy tales have a patriarchal bent, it is also true that these fairy tales show us how to deal with this overbearing patriarchal attitude. Archetypal paterns self-correct, and so instead of Sleeping Beauty waiting for her prince to save her, these tales expressed what the Feminine Principle needs to learn to "do" (the masculine energy) to deal with the situation. The heroines of these tales were, in fact, learning to save themselves. That's the message we're seeing today in movies such as Maleficent and Frozen andon TV in Once Upon a Time. Cathy will also share some stories about her favorite heras/heroines: Scheherazade, Dame Ragnell and Allerleirauh.
We'll discuss what are archetypes, why it is important to understand symbolic language, why a feminist approach to fairy tales is more limiting than a symbolic one and much more. Tune in!
You would think there’s not much to talk about with just two games in the NFL mix this past weekend . . . but hey, those TWO games just determined who our Super Bowl XLIX contenders are!
Nonetheless, Frat House Mike and Brandon are going second-level on their analysis of the AFC and NFC Championship games in this episode of Frat House Sports’ Red Zone Blitz program . . .
. . . and they start it off with the Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots and get some help from the afternoon drive-time voice of Kent Sterling from CBS Sports 1430-AM Indianapolis who will provide his expertise and on-the-ground analysis of the Colts performance and what’s next for them. Kent brings us the “flavor” of the fan base there; some of the travails of the team in 2014; Andrew Luck, the ground game, and Chuck Pagano.
But they’re not done! They X-and-0 the NFC Championship between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks as well!
This has ALL the makings of ANOTHER terrific Frat House Sports program you absolutely cannot miss! So sit down, grab a beer and listen to them break it all down in the NFL with just one final game remaining . . . the BIG one! Give it a listen; give it a "follow"; and, give Frat House Mike & Brandon a shout out at 347 – 826 – 9964!
By this Sunday night we'll have our two participants for Super Bowl 49. The New England Patriots are looking to reach the Super Bowl for the eighth time in franchise history while the Indianapolis Colts and quarterback Andrew Luck want to spoil those plans. The Seattle Seahawks are out to become the first defending Super Bowl Champion to get back to the big dance since the Patriots in 2004, but the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers are looking for their second Vince Lombardi Trophy since 2010. Be sure to check out the 300lbsofsportsknowledge Show this Monday night at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific as I'll be recapping the action from both the NFC and AFC Championship Games with a look ahead to the Super Bowl.

Opening tonight's show, we have Prs. Cathy Pagano, offering the Cosmic Story for October....learn what the stars, planets, sun and moon have in store for us for the next several weeks.
Then, to kick off the Feminist Fairy Tale and Goddess Mythology Trilogy,....Inspired by the movie Malificient, tonight is Part 1 of Voices of the Sacred Feminine's Feminist Fairy Tale & Goddess Mythology three-bie. Tonight our guest interviewee is Charlene Spretnak discussing some of the Pre-Olympian Goddess Myths from her book Lost Goddesses of Early Greece. No doubt Charlene's books are in your personal library. We'll discuss the importance of feminist fairy tales and Goddess mythology, how so many have lost sight of what they teach us and how they're an alternative to the values of our patriarchal world. In previous weeks we've discussed giving ourselves permission to reinterpret, redefine, reimagine, and reclaim our own stories rather than accept as normal or healthy the collective patriarchal beliefs, attitudes and practices that shackle us, particularly women, in our patriarchal world.
Next week, returning to the show is foremother Barbara Walker, discussing Feminist Fairy Tales, the title of one of her older books, as well as her latest, Belief and Unbelief, being released in November by Humanist Press. Then in Week 3, I chat with Lenny Schneir, the partner of the late and beloved Foremother, Merlin Stone, author of the famous book inspiring so many of us - When God Was a Woman as well as Ancient Mirrors of Womanhood.

The Philadelphia Eagles are on MONDAY NIGHT in Week 2, but before we preview the game we give our thoughts on the escalating Ray Rice firestorm that has broken out since the TMZ video went viral on Monday.
As for the game, the retooled Eagles offensive line will have their first test Monday night when they visit the Indianapolis Colts. Left guard Evan Mathis will be out until at least Week 8 with an MCL sprain, while Lane Johnson's backup, Allen Barbre, will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury. The Birds had the same offensive line for all 17 games last season, including the postseason.
Indianapolis, meanwhile, struggled to generate pressure against the Denver Broncos in their 30-23 loss last Sunday and the news got worse Monday when it was learned that the NFL's reigning sack leader, Robert Mathis, will miss the year after rupturing his Achilles while working out in Atlanta. Mathis was suspended the first four games this season for testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug.
The Bitter Birds discuss this and a whole lot more ...
