Why We Play the Game of Football

    in Football

This kickoff episode of the Football By Football podcast features three former NFL football players - linebackers Matt Chatham and Brady Poppinga, and quarterback Brady Quinn - in a players-only discussion of why they played this particular sport and what makes it so great.  The guys discuss sound bites from football classics like "North Dallas Forty" and "Any Given Sunday," as well as clips from a K2 climbing documentary and JK Rowling in a broad roundtable on the appropriateness of danger in the game and chosing not to live cautiously.

This is an insight-packed show that sets the table for why we started footballbyfootball.com.

    Enjoy!

    32 For 32: Chicago Bears

    in Sports

What a year it was for the Chicago Bears...& I don't mean that in a good way by any stretch of imagination. The team came of a 5-11 season in 2014, their first double-digit loss season since producing the exact same record just 10 years prior. & as a result, changes had to be made, & it started in the front office. General manager Phil Emery...gone. Director of pro personnel Kevin Turks...gone. & of course head coach Marc Trestman...gone as well, along with offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer. Quarterbacks coach Matt Canavaugh's contract was not retained by the organization as well. Roster changes include the departures of wide receiver Brandon Marshall, cornerback Charles Tillman (who missed the majority of 2014 due to injury), safety Chris Conte, defensive tackle Stephen Paea, safety Anthony Walters, & center Roberto Garza...just to name a few. New head coach John Foz, who had taken his two previous coached teams the Broncos & Panthers to Super Bowls, is expected to bring a fresh new attitude. & what about quarterback Jay Cutler? The guy was almost traded to the Tennessee Titans & still possess a lof of money in his current deal. What will become of the Bears going forward in 2015?? Tune in to a new episode of The Rocket Sports Breakdown Thursday May 21st @ 6:30pm to find out. For 30 minutes, Rocket will discuss the Bears & their 2015 offseason & more. Rocket Nation, get ready for a power trip.

Chicago Bears Postgame: Week 16 vs Detroit Lions presented by RLSN

    in Football

The Bears (5-9) host the Detroit Lions (10-4) in a game that can help determine the NFC North race.  The Lions are a game ahead of the Green Bay Packers, and can clinch the division today with a win and a Packer loss.  The Bears close out their home portion of a very disappointing season by changing quarterbacks against one of the top rated defenses in the NFL.  Jimmy Claussen will have his hands full with a Detroit front four led by the best defensive tackle in the league.  Can the Bears look competative? Will the Lions keep their foot on the gas?  We break it all down after the game.
