    St. Julia of Corsica

    in Religion

    Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org

    Julia was captured and sold as a slave to a pagan merchant, but she did not complain or feel sorry for herself. She accepted everything, and performed the most humble tasks with wonderful cheerfulness. For Julia loved God with all her heart. In her spare time, she read holy books and prayed fervently.

    One day her master decided to take her with him to France. On the way, he stopped at an island to go to a pagan festivll. Julia refused to even go near the place where they were celebrating. She did not want to have anything to do with those superstitious ceremonies.

    The governor of that region was very angry with her for not joining in the pagan feast. "Who is that woman who dares to insult our gods?" he cried. Julia's owner answered that she was a Christian. He said, too, that although he had not been able to make her give up her religion, still she was such a good, faithful servant that he would not know what to do without her.

    "I will give you four of my best women slaves for her," offered the governor, but her master refused. "No," he said, "All you own will not buy her. I would willingly lose the most valuable thing in the world rather than lose her."

    When the merchant was asleep, however, the wicked governor tried to make Julia sacrifice to the gods. He promised to have her set free if she would, but she absolutely refused. She said she was as free as she wanted to be as long as she could serve Jesus. Then the pagan ruler, in great anger, had her struck on the face and her hair torn from her head. She was next put on a cross to hang there until she died. Her feast day is May 23rd.

    The Ochlocratic Report - The Ochlocratic Review

    in Religion

    I went to Walmart looking to purchase digital reading aids for my grand daughter.  I was amazed that Walmart had a different price in the hood than that of a more affluent neighborhood.  The question came to mind, "Why would a store sell items intended to better the intellect for different prices based on neighborhood?"  This my friend is the economics of social engineering and stratification.  Tonights broadcast will include a clip that explains the hidden agenda of the kings of the earth.  ENJOY!

    Romans 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

    2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

    3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

    4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

    5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

    6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

    7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

    8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

    9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

    10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

    CUTV News Radio spotlights Betty Withrow of Betty of Big Sur

    in Self Help

    Carmel, CA – What ideas do we have right in front of us? How can we break down our challenges into manageable goals? And what are the physical and spiritual actions we can take to move ourselves forward?

    Betty Withrow is Betty of Big Sur, life coach and author of Prevail: Seven Keys to Create a Personal Victory. According to Betty, the seven key qualities that allow a person to endure any challenges in life are cheerfulness, patience, friendliest, creativity, fortitude, perseverance and a sense of completion.

    “This came to me one day when I was in a state of overwhelm,” recalls Betty. “How did I get here? I wanted to share my experiences and give back to the world.”

    Betty says she was inspired to write the book because she couldn’t not write it. After early years spent in an abusive environment, overcoming poverty and a life-threatening illness, writing Prevail offered an opportunity for personal transformation, to heal herself and live her life on her own terms.

    “I began to feel a sense of purpose pushing me," says Betty. "Here was my chance to turn these experiences around for a larger vision."

    Betty has lived in Big Sur for 44 years. What began as a basic pioneer experience has since evolved into a unique nature based coaching practice. Betty says she enjoys helping clients find clarity on their issues and determine what they would like life to be like instead. She says they often discover there are many more possibilities than they realized.

    “Everyone has within themselves abilities they don’t recognize,” says Betty. “This is about finding a way to overcome the belief that life is writing you and you are not writing life."

    The Importance Of Cheerfulness

    in Christianity

    In the first half of our Friday doubleheader, Catholic lay evangelist Gary Zimak looks at the importance of cheerfulness.  Often overlooked when we try to evangelize, this virtue can either make or break our message.  Using the book, "The Hidden Power of Kindness" by Father Lawrence Lovasik, Gary will illustrate this point in easy to understand language.  In the second half of the show, we'll examine the Mass readings for the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time.  The message is clear - Jesus is the Bread of Life and those who partake of His Body and Blood will receive the nourishment needed to live forever.  Be sure not to miss this important episode of "Following The Truth"!

    Prayer—Nature and Evolution (Part 4)

    in Religion

    In their early and primitive form, prayers were not addressed to anyone in particular.  Prayer then evolved through many phases and during long ages before attaining the level of intelligent and truly ethical prayer.  Enlightened prayer must recognize not only an external and personal God but also an internal and impersonal Divinity, the indwelling Adjuster.
