    in Rock Music

Welcome home.

    Will and Thunder Welcomes Tattermask

    in Rock Music

Sired by classic rock and modern metal ancestors, Tattermask of Charlotte, NC, commingles melodic relics of Ozzy Osbourne, Led Zeppelin, Boston, and Whitesnake with modern riffage akin to Disturbed, Alter Bridge, Evanescence, and Sevendust to forge a fresh sound in the mire of mainstream active rock. Driven by dual lead guitarists Josh Wright and Travis Dry; powered by tight, expressive rhythms from Adam Blackmon on drums and Harley Quinn on bass; and garnished with vocals from Amanda Caines that go from Pat Benatar to Adele to Evanescence at the drop of a hat, sonic variety is the ultimate goal of Tattermask's catalogue of original tunes.

The band has just released their latest EP, Carpe Noctem, and they'll be on the show to tell us a little about it, as well as their upcoming gig on the Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock Tour, opening for bands such as The Agonist and Flyleaf; so be sure to tune in!

Will and Thunder Welcomes Diana Gabaldon

    in Books

We're stepping through the stones and welcoming to our show the one and only Diana Gabaldon, the New York Times best-selling author of the famed Outlander series, which has transcended genres, has been translated to over 40 languages worldwide, and has won countless awards since the first book of the series was published nearly a quarter of a century ago. Now this beloved series has been adapted to the small screen on the Starz network, where viewers can follow the adventures of 20th century time-traveler Claire Randall and 18th century Scotsman Jamie Fraser, dubbed by fans as the "King of Men".

Diana will be stopping by to talk about the show's first season resuming its second half in April, the upcoming DVD release of Season One's first half, and anything else under the sun relating to her books and to the show. We will be taking fan questions for Diana on our Facebook Event page, so if you have a question for Herself, feel free to post it there and we will try our best to ask it for you! She will only be with us for one hour, so we will do everything we can to cover as many of your questions as possible.

We will also have the chat room open on the day of broadcast, so join us in the first hour of the program to talk Outlander with fellow listeners, and play along with our weekly feature, "Scary Justin's Horror Movie Trivia"! While scary films are not exactly related to Outlander, those of you in the chat room who can beat the horror movie "zom-boy" at his own game will get one question asked to Diana, so brush up on your scary movies and give it your best shot!

To accommodate Diana's busy schedule, we will be airing this episode at a special time: one hour earlier than our usual broadcast time, so don't forget to tune in at 9 p.m. Eastern/6 p.m. Pacific. See you then!

***Special thanks to Anne Mueller, who designed our awesome-looking banner!***

Will and Thunder Welcomes Norman Skinner

    in Rock Music

With 9 studio albums, countless shows, and tours under his belt, San Francisco Bay Area metal veteran Norman Skinner has made a name for himself as a force to be reckoned with in the metal world. Dubbed the "Metal Chameleon" by members of the press, Skinner possesses a very wide range and utilizes it in a unique style to effortlessly switch between the beautiful and the brutal.

After over 20 years in the business, Norman has fronted countless bands, and will be talking to us about some of them (Dire Peril, Skinner, and Hellscream, to name a few!). We'll be playing songs from some of these bands as well, so be sure to tune in!

    Will and Thunder Welcome MindMaze

    in Rock Music

Our first guests of 2015, MindMaze are a promising band like no other. Hailing from Allentown, Pennsylvania the four-piece band are relatively young, but have honed their craft with over one-hundred gigs, including sharing the stage with metal mainstays such as Saxon, Primal Fear, Overkill, George Lynch, Doro, Fozzy, Raven, Jon Oliva’s Pain, Circle II Circle, and others as well as being selected from hundreds of entries to open for Mötley Crüe in May 2013.

Vocalist Sarah Teets displays both power and range in her vocal work, which maintains a cleanness that still has grit when it needs to. Her vocal style and attitude immediately set her apart from the stockpile of dime-a-dozen female vocalists on the metal scene today, calling to mind a soaring, melodic, and powerful style akin to greats such as Bruce Dickinson, Ronnie James Dio, and Russell Allen. Matched with the impressive yet tasteful playing of the rest of the band (including brother Jeff Teets on guitars and keyboards, Kalin Schweizerhof on drums, and Symphony X’s Mike LePond on bass) and an exciting live performance to boot, MindMaze are winning audiences over with every show and every listen of their music. It’s only a matter of time until the rest of the world takes notice.

Will and Thunder Welcome Burn Cycle

    in Rock Music

Burn Cycle was born in February of 2014. The instrumental pieces of Burn Cycle are no strangers to each other, or to rock fans in the Los Angeles area. Eggers and Sampson (Guitars); Torrey (Drums) and Boads (Bass) played together previously, playing well over a 100 shows together, headlining all over Southern California, often providing direct support for national acts. The resulting musical kinship and instinctive interplay between players, the kind only developed through intense sweat and unapologetic smiles, laid an incredible sonic framework for a talented inspired vocalist and lyricist to build upon. They found such a vocalist in Wreck (Vocals), whose vocal range matches the wide breadth and intensity of his lyrical musings. Wreck, who is Georgia born, is a previously-signed recording artist who has completed several national tours of the USA. The pursuit of new musical opportunities led him to Los Angeles, where he was excited to find an experienced musical unit with a true sense of collaboration just waiting for his talents and input. With Wreck on-board, the five crucial elements were in place, Burn Cycle commenced. Burn Cycle is not interested in simply being a good band; they are shooting for jaw-dropping. With this in mind, they spent their first twelve months together performing only select few shows and spending lots of time in the woodshed gelling as a unit. With the release of their four song EP “Ignition”, Burn Cycle is ready to make heads bang, feet stomp and to put some smiles on some faces.

Will and Thunder Welcome ASH ROCK

    in Rock Music

Since this is the show right before Christmas, we thought we'd get into the holiday spirit by celebrating one of the cornerstones of the season: kids! But we are a rock and metal show, so these aren't your typical grade-school carolers! We're going to showcase a certified "school of rock" on our program, to learn a little about these young prodigies who are making the future of rock and metal right now!

Joining us as a guest will be Preston Nash, an instructor at Sam Ash Music in Indianapolis. Preston is also a seasoned musician in his own right; playing for bands such as Dope and Society 1. He'll be stopping by to tell us a little more about the school, the students, and we'll be playing some tunes from these talented young artists known as ASH ROCK!

We're also going to have some co-hosts this week; filling in for Will this week will be our friends Rob and Sean from the band Aries! They've been great guests and we're glad to have them back on the show to help us out in Will's absence. This episode features our last guests of 2014, so be sure to tune in!
