At Eye Level - The Comedians of Uber

    in Entertainment

Actors, musicians and comedians have always had to find a way to make a living while still having the freedom to do what they love. It's the universal struggle that we've all shared for generations. In this new economy, for better or for worse, new ways to earn a living are emerging. Uber has emerged as one of the more popular ones. It gives you the freedom to work on your own schedule and pays better than minimum wage. Being a server or flipping burgers isn't the only way to scrape by anymore. With a little proper planning and effort, you can actually make a pretty good living.

Many of Matt's comedian friends have been driving for Uber for the past 2 years and, in addition to having some hilarious stories, are able to strike that balance and earn a living while pursing their comedy careers. This week, we'll hear from some of them, including Vicki Wagner and  Robert Field.

Guest: Douglas Wilson - Writers to Read: 9 Names That Belong on  Your Bookshelf

    A little bit about Doug:

If books are among our friends, we ought to choose them wisely.

But sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. In Writers to Read, Doug Wilson—someone who’s spent a lifetime writing, reading, and teaching others to do the same—introduces us to nine of his favorite authors from the last 150 years, exploring their interesting lives, key works, and enduring legacies. In doing so, Wilson opens our eyes to literary mentors who not only teach us what good writing looks like, but also help us become better readers in the process.

  • Celebrities Are Not Role Models? Daily Gogetemism #332

    in Lifestyle

Charles Barkley started it 1st many years ago with the whole "I'm not a role model" thing. I think that it was disgraceful thing then and I think that it is still now. Wemay not have to hold our famous people to unrealistic high standards, but is asking them to be someone that our kids would like to be asking too much? If not, should we support them

THE WRITERS LOUNGE PRESENTS: CRISTI TAIJERON

    in Writing

Join hosts Tom Riddell and guest co-host Bobbi Hughes-Millman as they welcome author Cristi Taijeron to The Writers Lounge. Sit back and relax as Cristi discusses what it's like to be a writer and she will also talk to us about her book: QUEEN OF MY NIGHTMARE- UNCHARTED SECRETS-BOOK 2

I didn't want to be a pirate, but there are times one must do undesirable things in order to survive.
Under Mason Bentley’s black flag, I ended up finding more than just the refuge I was seeking. He taught me to fight, inspired me to navigate, and by the time we reached Tortuga I was drawing maps so fine I could sell them. No longer a weeping, helpless woman, I took hold of my courage to face the cursed world that wished to punish me for witchcraft. Strong, rich, and free, I finally claimed my throne in this kingdom of thieves, but it was the love I shared with their king that cursed me with a burden I was not strong enough to bear. What good was it to be a queen if the only dominion I held was over a nightmare?
