Lions and Tigers and Big Ideas. Oh My.

    in Politics Progressive

Why oh why do so many Americans fear big ideas? Seems like we'd rather have a President who is a stereotypical accountant than a bold-stroke leader.

I wasn't even going to get into the HIllary Clinton v. Elizabeth Warren game, much less the conga line of GOP clods. Yet the murmurs in media and, of course, online commenters has gotten sad and a bit toxic. The current foolish instant cliché about Warren is 1) she is too inexperienced to be Prez and 2) just look at what happened with this current inexperienced guy named Obama.

For Warren, let us recall that the same donkeys brayed that she was two one-dimensional and too inexperienced to be Senator. Instead, she strode into office with her tiny, slender body and quiet voice as a real warrior. She put the lie to accepted truth of the limits of new Senators being impotent. She has set the standard for what a legislator should accomplish.

She did it with bold, well-formulated ideas — big ideas.

I don't want her to leave the Senate for a run for the top office. Yet in her spot, she already is a template for what we should expect from politicians. We don't need another incrementalist. We don't need another political coward in the White House.

Go Therefore and... Now What? Part 3

    in Christianity

"Tracts are adapted to those persons who have but little power and little ability, but nevertheless, wish to do something for Christ. They have not the tongue of the eloquent, but they may have the hand of the diligent..." Charles Spugeon

These silent preachers are extraordinarily effective at spreading the Gospel. You've heard of God speaking through people, bushes and even donkeys, but a piece of paper is just as useful. Lord willing, we can help you take what might be your first step into evangelism. Contact us at saltoftheoats@gmail.com or on facebook at  https://www.facebook.com/setthecaptivesfreefromcults. Let it Be Understood Without any Ambiguity... The Time is Upon Us

    in Current Events

12 This is the plague with which the Lord will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.13 On that day people will be stricken by the Lord with great panic. They will seize each other by the hand and attack one another. 14 Judah too will fight at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected—great quantities of gold and silver and clothing. 15 A similar plague will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.

Politics gone wild; Obama sets a good example; Are there monsters among us?

    in Politics Conservative

What does the term "politics as usual" mean to you?

Does President Obama's approval ratings really mean anything?

Will opposing political parties (ie: Elephants & Donkeys o,r if your prefer, Republicans & Democrats)  ever learn to work together?

In the political game, when is a win not a win?

These and a few other guestions are laying heavy on the minds of many people, including me.

Join me this morning at 8AM - 9:15AM EST  to share your comments or opinions on these questios.

Job’s Character and Wealth (Job 1:1-12)

    in Christianity

    TEXTS

There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil. Seven sons and three daughters were born to him. His possessions also were 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and very many servants; and that man was the greatest of all the men of the east. His sons used to go and hold a feast in the house of each one on his day, and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. When the days of feasting had completed their cycle, Job would send and consecrate them, rising up early in the morning and offering burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, “Perhaps my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did continually.

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. The Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.” The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.” Then Satan answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face.” Then the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him.” So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord.

    THEMES

God has a plan for his creation which he will certainly accomplish. It is carried out through the control of circumstances and his choice and use...

Animals Through the Ages (formerly Pets in History)

    in Pets

History does not merely belong to the realm of humankind.  Animals have also played major roles in the history of humanity.  Cats, for example have been viewed with both reverence (as with the ancient Egyptians), and with suspicion (during times when witchcraft accusations ran rampant).  And what about the donkey's special role during biblical times? Of course, there are many others to be explored.  So please tune in as hosts J and D unravel the interesting and sometimes strange roles animals have played in our lives through the ages.

    Virani

    in Spirituality

For 25 years, Virani carried a gun as a Los Angeles County deputy sheriff. After retirement, she came to Ananda Village and eventually manifested a long-held dream to develop a humane, sustainable goat dairy she calls Yogoata. Babies are kept with their mothers, and instead of being killed for meat, as is the normal practice, male goats become part of Mow-Goata, which munches through acres of otherwise overgrown Ananda land, making themselves healthy and useful while keeping fire danger at bay. She uses trained donkeys to supervise and protect the goat herds...

She's done many things since moving to Ananda, but the most joyful has been starting Yogoata, a part of Ananda Farms, and helping with self-sustaining efforts at the village. She's been doing that for 5 years, and it has been the biggest blessing of her life. She loves the goats, the outdoor nature show, the discomforts- all of it. She also loves that the goats are humanely and naturally raised and eat from the land, and will provide food for the village no matter what is happening in the world.
