As Baby Boomers stave off retirement to remain in the workforce, they're joined by Millennial workers those who most recently received their degrees and are the furthest from retirement age. Yet, despite the age spans and diversity of work styles, both generations have something in common: having to overcome pre-conceived age biases. In this episode of Own Your Career, Rod will explore Overcoming Age Biases as the CEO of Me, Inc.

It turns out mediators are human, too. Despite our best attempts to remain non-judgmental in mediation, our biases sometimes sneak into the process and affect how participants experience the mediation.
The radio blog will give listeners chance to understand our more subtle biases, identify how they may sneak into our language during the mediation, and learn strategies to manage them so that mediation participants can experience the process without judgment.
The show is to give an idea of the conference session content.
As you become more spiritual you will not judge anyone. Yes, there's a part of human nature within us that observes something first and we make a decision. I believe that stems from our fight or flight response. You still have to use your intuition or gut feeling. That is different.
I mean when we first see someone or a situation we subconsciously make a decision based on what we were tuaght. A good example is seeing a female and male tutoring session. Often we first think that the man is tutuoring the woman. Many people see a male nurse and they will assume he's a doctor. I've seen this. These are biases and we always need to be aware of them.
Also I will discuss being yourself. It doesn't matter what other people think. We often let other people influence us in our relationships, career and even the way we dress. People will say act lyour age. I don't know what this means. We never should lose the child within. It's okay to laugh and have fun. It's okay to be goofy at times. It doesn't matter what profession you hold. Also, I will discuss homosexuality, bisexual, transgender and lesbian. When you read for people you need to be able to not think of any of this. When you become spiritual you will understand.

This is the first podcast to come from Voluntary Media Networks (VMN) where I, Alex, talk about the Ferguson, Missouri incident and riots, about the ideas statists generally have when talking about the use of force, and about the general biases most protestors and viewers of the media have when it comes to issues such as the Ferguson incident.

This past weekend, First Lady Michelle Obama gave the commencement speech at Tuskegee University in Alabama. She gave an impassioned presentation about race in America today and the particular biases and obstacles faced by Black Americans. But is she right?
Other minorities and even older women experience much of what the First Lady attempted to attribute as being the unique experience of Black America. Further, did her passion and her choice of wording seem to inflame the current race divide or even return it to a time that is no longer true in America?
This important topic will be explored by Steve and Carole on tonight's show. Join them for an honest look at what's unfolding in race relations... who's fanning... and who's attempting to quell the situation.

I listen to James Altucher's podcasts whenever they are released. He is a very smart guy who interviews an eclectic group of guests.
Listening to James, I learned quite a bit about myself and how I discriminate in my evaluation of people.
Maybe I'll wake you up to a few of yours.
Hiring staff doesn't have to be hard, difficult, painful, exhausting or take so long.
For most organizations, the systems you have in place do not facilitate hiring well-enough but does a great job of facilitating "applicant tracking."

Since January of 2013, we have been ranking the very best independent wrestlers on a weekly basis. This is a KAYFABE list, meaning it is not centered around our opinion of who the best worker is on a weekly basis, but rather, more sports-oriented in the thought process of wins being the most important factor in getting ranked. Many various independent wrestling writers spend their time debating who the “best in the world” is while we simply seek to prove it via wins and losses.
In order to be ranked and to avoid personal biases, we have a group of voters from around the country who have 3 main criteria for voting (in a similar manner to ESPN.com’s NFL Power Rankings):
1. Win-loss record for the week & overall
2. Strength of opponents for the week
3. Overall public perception of the wrestler in question (i.e. Chris Hero has a stronger following than a regional independent wrestler who most people have never heard of)
We will be breaking down the Singles Top 10, discussing the Tag Team Top 5 and attempting to shed some light on the various wrestlers and companies that make up independent wrestling, so please sit back and enjoy the show!
