The Rocky Horror Picture Show Bash

    in Movies

Award-winning actor Barry Bostwick reminisces about The Rocky Horror Picture Show in this annual October tribute to that bizarre cult classic. Bostwick speaks candidly about his experience while making the film -- including weather problems, what it was like working with Susan Sarandon, his favorite scenes in the movie, and much more.

Boasting credits in over 100 films and TV productions, Bostwick may be best-known as the clueless mayor on Spin City, but he's a triple-threat entertainer -- singer, dancer, actor -- who created the role of Danny Zuko in Grease on Broadway and won a Tony for his work in The Robber Bridegroom. He's also a Golden Globe winner for his performance in TV's War and Remembrance. Among Bostwick's many films are: Movie, Movie; 101 Dalmations II; Spy Hard; Some Guy Who Kills People; and FDR: American Badass! His upcoming movies include Slay Bells, a horror flick in which he plays Santa, as well as the comedy Diani & Devine Meet the Apocalypse.

Although The Rocky Horror Picture Show bombed when it first opened in 1975, entertaining midnight showings soon catapulted the film into cult status. And the movie got a big boost when TV's Glee featured its own version of the outrageous musical numbers.

An Authors Journey: Business Executive to Best-Selling Writer: Ani Alexander

    in Writing

Ani Alexander: a wife and a mother, a bestselling fiction author, a podcaster.

Ani used her business education to enjoy a successful corporate career for more than 12 years. But at  some point she felt that the job had lost its value. The corporate job cannibalized everything she wanted  to do with her life. It left no time for a healthy personal life or simple life pleasures. And what is more important it killed her dreams.

It took Ani long time to realize her true passion and calling, and even more courage to take the first step to living it.  Looking back, it was the best decision she ever made.

Today, Ani is passionate about living every breath of her life with zeal and gratitude, and is dedicated to helping others make their dreams come true too.  Her coaching, writing and speaking are created from her raw authentic true life experiences, success and failures.

    See The Big Picture

    in Religion

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. With that, we will talk about thanksgivng. What are you thankful for today? Sadly, many people get stuck focusing on their circumstances rather than seeing the big picture. As a result, they fail to give thanks for the things happening in their lives. It happens today, and it happened to the Israelites as they journeyed to the Promised Land.

Plus, I'll share the top 10 must have Thanksgiving side dishes. Join us Monday at 6pm Eastern.

  • Sundy Best Live

    in Military

Join us this week as we welcome the Americana/Folk Rock band, Sundy Best. Hailing from Prestonsburg, KY., front porch melodies and song lyrics grown out of the rocky topsoil of Eastern Kentucky’s Appalachian Mountains intertwine Sundy Best’s roots in every song they sing. In exciting news for December 2014, Sundy Best just released their third eOne album "Salvation City". The new album is available at all major media outlets. With each step along the way — even the quick-step nature of rolling out music almost as quickly as they can write and record it — you hear the maturity, the confidence and the capability of this duo rise and rise, especially on the tracks that make up "Salvation City", a mythical place Jamerson describes as more an attitude than anything concrete. In addition to recording and preparing the new album, they have been touring extensively and are currently preparing for a early 2015 tour in Canada. As Kris Bentley and Nick Jamerson join us live this week, we will discuss all the exciting details about their new album. In addition, we will feature music from their new release, catch up with all that has happened in their career since their previous appearance with us, along with their plans for the future. Also, we will ask them to share their message for the troops. Please be sure to visit Sundy Best at http://www.sundybest.net and also join their Kinfolk Movement at http://www.sundybest.net/kinfolk  Fans are welcome to call in and speak live with with them during the show (718) 766-4193. If you would like to participate in the live chat during the show, you must sign up on the show site first and then log in during the show. As always we will give shout outs to our deployed military listeners. Our message to the troops....WE do what we do, because YOU do what you do.

    Picture Perfect -- Write Stuff -- 10/14/2014

    in Radio

Everyone wants to be picture perfect...for the big day, the job interview, the first date, and other events and occasions that are important to us. In fact, we spend money on make-up, clothes, shoes, fat busting products, face creams guaranteed to take away the ravages of time, and other hocus pocus methodologies to make us...picture perfect.

The definition of picture perfect has changed over the years. In the past, painters created portraits for their clients.  There weren't any cameras so they had their own version of Photoshop as they altered--just slightly mind you--the person's visage they painted to fit in with the time period's idea of picture perfect. Long slender necks, rounded shoulders, a corseted waist, and other alterations.

In today's episode of the right stuff, we're going to look at what it means to picture perfect with author Vanessa Riley. You can join by calling 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the WLUV radio mobile app today. Any way you can, join us.
