    The mission for WRLP Iis a catalyst for individual, family, and community change. Our agency along with our partners in the community, assist many people each year to transform their lives by working with citizens who live on limited incomes. Our goal is to train and re-employ the chronically unemployed and to offer "handup not a hand out". We wotk to put our citizens back to work through job training and job placement services. 


    Our guest today, Mr. Jeffrey Harris, hails from South Jamaica Queens New York. He is working on his masters degree in special education and has a passion for children and wants to equip them during their learning process with sklls and practical experience to empower them for better opportunities in life now and in the future. Jeffrey Harris is an instructor at WRLP and also is a volunteer instructor with the Salvation Army.  He works tirelessly in Guilford County assisting the underserved in many capacities. Jeffrey Harris is single and also has a twin brother.

    Tonight, we feature a replay of the public debate between David Cobb of Move to Amend's National Leadership Team and James Bopp, General Counsel for the James Madison Center for Free Speech and legal advisor to the organization Citizens United. Citizens Divided: Corporate Money, Speech, and Politics was held at Indiana University last September, featuring Cobb and Bopp as they explore the relationship between corporations and political speech following the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission ruling. You will listen to questions from a five-person panel and the audience. Tonight you are hearing the first of two parts. The second part will be aired next week at our usual time.

    And this week's #NUartist is Dustin Sellers! Not only has Sellers performed as the front man for Nashville rock band Overzealous, and performed with Magnolia Sons, but he is now taking a solo approach with new music and live shows. Overzealous will still remain an active band and outlet for Dustin Sellers songs and performances. However, Sellers has alot of material that is unique to both overzealous and to previous material he has written.

    This week features the Executive Director of Hip Hop Congress, Shamako Noble, to talk about the upcoming "What the BLEEP Happened to Hip Hop" Tour and their collaboration with Move to Amend.


    Shamako is the co-founder of Hip Hop Congress. He is also the Director of the H2Ed program for the Hip Hop Association which uses education, media and leadership to preserve and develop Hip Hop culture. Before moving into those two positions, Shamako worked as a Community Outreach and Development Director for a youth center in Menlo Park. As an artist, Shamako has been performing since a very young age. At this time he has performed or organized over 200 events since starting his career. In 2004, he released his first solo album, “The Return of the Coming of the Aftermath.” Shamako, who was once known as the “Kevin Bacon of South Bay Hip Hop” is now moving into a similar role nationally. Within the Hip Hop realm, Shamako is involved in culture, industry, education and politics. Locally he also operates with an organization called R.E.F.U.G.E. (Real Education for Urban Growth Enterprises) which specializes in using the Urban Arts to teach life skills, leadership and culture.
