Before we start condemning Brian Williams, let’s look at ourselves.
Whether NBC News fires or demotes Williams, I don’t care. It is their business. Frankly, ratings will decide his fate. If people stop watching NBC News and advertisers stop advertising, then Williams will probably be a talk show host and not a news anchor anymore.
But the Brian Williams story goes deeper into our media, our politics, and our culture. And it is – well – kind of embarrassing.
It’s called Victimhood.
And we all do it.
Brian Williams portrayed himself as a victim. He told us that he was in a chopper that was under fire in a war zone. Why? It made him look good. He wasn’t just a talking head sitting behind the desk. He was a reporter in the field. Trust me, every news anchor wants to prove that. Every news anchor doesn’t want to look like Ted Baxter or Ron Burgundy.
Haven’t we all done that at some point? I am sure I have. But I just don’t remember at the moment
We want to be thought of as someone who is heroic or who has done good – for people.
Is Brian Williams victimhood horrible? Maybe not. He was doing his job in some respects. He was making himself look good for ratings. I am not saying that is right. He should be more in-tune to the truth. But he’s making 10-million a year to keep that image.
The worst faux victims are people like al Qaeda and ISIS and other extremists. Osama bin Laden felt victimized – and he used it. ISIS feels the world is a horrible place because there is no caliphate. Really? No, they want the power -- they can’t have -- because the mullahs in Iran and the royal family in Saudi Arabia have it.
Our weekly program for and about the world of Bail Bonds. While at first glance you would think that Law Enforcement and the Bail Bonds world would be the best of friends, the Bonds Man deliveres the wanted bad guy to the jail. No donut break is interupted, the only pesky bit is the paperwork. Alas this nirvana is not reality. The Police and Bondsmen do clash. There are hundreds os stories, some humorous in retrospect, but not nearly so rib ticlkingly funny at the time when you are staring down the barrel of a gun.
Why is there this disconnect between the two groups, they share a common goal?
In life we all have our struggles and we all need encouragement. Many times there are those with special needs or disabilities that feel like there isn't a place for them in society because they can't do or they struggle with many things that normal bodied people take for granted. Our very own, host Franklin D. Murdock has his struggles: At 94 years old, the toll of age has entered the equation, but on top of that he suffers from Macular Degeneration which has rendered him legally blind. Those special needs did not stop him from writing a total of 7 books with one more in progress, conducting a radio show for several thousand listeners and maintaining his social media status and his inspirational blog.
There are tools and help out there, but with God's daily blessings, love, and help from our fellow humankind; we can help each other in goals. Please tune in today to a special broadcast on helping others, not judging and just being kind to one another! For more on America's Man of Vision, check out www.FranklinDMurdock.com and follow him on Amazon for his latest books!
Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) is a company that owns and manages private prisons and detention centers and operates others on a concession basis. CCA, incorporated in 1983 by three businessmen with experience in government and corrections, is based in Nashville, Tennessee
Controversies involving the company include: treatment of inmates and disclosure of oversight, lobbying efforts to conceal details of operations, a lawsuit about gang influence in Idaho prison and substantial falsification of records, co-operation with local law enforcement in a school drug sweep, and the deadly 2012 riot in a Mississippi facility.
Founded in 1983, Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) owns or operates jails and prisons on contract with federal, state and local governments. CCA designs, builds, manages and operates correctional facilities and detention centers for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the United States Marshals Service, as well as facilities across the United States.

Our weekly loook into the world of Bail Bonds. The vast majority of Bondsman are scupulous in folling the letter of the law, complex though it is. There are a few though who bent the law and even some that totaly disregard it. While the penalties are serious, revokation of lisence etc, many states have very limited resouces to investigate reported wrong doing. So flagrent disregard of the law can go uninvestigated for a long time.
Few industries welcome more regulation an oversight, yet tere are element asking for just that.
About the only certainty in the buisiness of being a recovery agent is the uncertainty of the mission. Why did someone skip a court date? You can pretty much rule out forgetfulness. There are occasions where the fugitive does indeed have an excuse, he or she is already in jail! Sure it is not that common but it does happen. The rest broadly fall into two categories, those with a plan and those without a plan. Someone with a plan offers challenges. Although difficult to do in todays wired world, with cell phone tracking and the other electronic footprints it is my belief that with money and planning it is possible to disapear.
I will be interested on the experts thoughts
