    32 For 32: San Francisco 49ers

    in Sports

In the first edition of the 32 for 32 report by The Rocket Sports Breakdown, we'll be covering the San Francisco 49ers who were, by far, the biggest soap opera in all of the 2014 off-season. That drama carried over into the regular season which many of us had began to hear rumors of tension between the organization & former head coach Jim Harbaugh, who left to become head coach at his alma mater, Michigan University. In 2015, there have been many changes to this team. It started w/ a new head coaching hire in Jim Tomsula, which resulted in many folks scratching their heads & making more bar trips to drown their depressions. A handful of players have either retired, moved on to other teams in free agency, or simply been cut. However, some of their new editions have included linebacker Darnell Dockett, running back Reggie Bush, & wide receiver Torrey Smith, whose former team Baltimore Ravens defeated the 49ers in the Super Bowl just 3 seasons ago. He'll be reunited alongside Anquan Boldin, who was also on that Ravens team before being traded to San Fran. The big question for the Niners is what type of team will they be in 2015? We'll discuss that & their first round draft pick - defensive end Arik Armstead (Oregon) & more on The Rocket Sports Breakdown which airs this Wednesday morning @ 9:30am on Blog Talk Radio. Rocket Nation, get ready for our first big 32 for 32 power trip.

Egyptian heart in Israeli chest \ Coração Egipcío em peito israelita

    in Christianity

The mixed multitude that was among them, burned in desire; and the children of Israel also wept again and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
We remember the fish which we ate for free in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, onions and garlic.
Now our soul is dry; there is no such thing! our eyes do not see but manna.
    Numbers 11: 4-6

Spirit behind Northern Papist Abolitionism Shown Not to be of God

    in Politics

I am going to take up this subject by virtue of the knowledge of God in me, which I have received from heaven. The opinions of men, so far as I am concerned, are to me as the crackling of thorns under the pot, or the whistling of the wind. I break the ground; I lead the way like Columbus when he was invited to a banquet, where he was assigned the most honorable place at the table, and served with the ceremonials which were observed towards sovereigns. A shallow courtier present, who was meanly jealous of him, abruptly asked him whether he thought that in case he had not discovered the Indies, there were not other men in Spain who would have been capable of the enterprise? Columbus made no reply, but took an egg and invited the company to make it stand on end. They all attempted it, but in vain; whereupon he struck it upon the table so as to break one end, and left it standing on the broken part, illustrating that when he had once shown the way to the new world nothing was easier than to follow it. (HC 5:402.)

(Joseph Smith, Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, compiled by Alma P. Burton, p.28)

    Brother Oliver Cowdery,
Dear Sir:-This place [Kirtland] having recently been visited by a gentleman who advocated the principles or doctrines of those who are called Abolitionists...This must be a tender print, and one which should call forth the candid reflections of all men, and more especially before they advance in an opposition calculated to lay waste the fair states of the South, and let loose upon the world a community of people, who might, peradventure, overrun our country, and violate the most sacred principles of human society, chastity and virtue.

(Joseph Smith, History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7 vols., introduction and notes by B. H. Roberts, 2:, p.436-437)

Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey - with Joanna Pascale!

    in Music

When you see Joanna Pascale's website, you'll see the quote from her regarding her new project.  She says, "Wildflowers grow unter the most unlikely circumstances.  You'll find them in the most unlikely places.  From the beginning, that's how my journey has been."

Joanna Pascale IS a "Wildflower."  Strong and resilient, unexpectedly beautiful and unique.  Her presence in the world of Jazz is appreciated - this writer speaks for many.  She LOVES the music, is grateful for the Masters and Mistresses that came before her, and dearly craves to bring those voices from the past to YOU - in her OWN voice :)  And what a gift that is!

When Joanna was attending Philadelphia's High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, a fellow student and friend was Bilal.  He joins her on "Wildflower", as does someone who has known her for equally as long.  That's the well-respected pianist - and producer for this album - Orrin Evans.  Who else is on this spectacular effort is enough to make your ears burn until the end of 2015!  Let's just say The BEST of the Best.

The new work from Joanna comes at a time when a successful ten-year run at Philly's Loew's Hotel was coming to an end. Sad as it was for all concerned, it gave our guest wings.  She was ready to get involved in HER music, having blessed other artists with her vocals on THEIRS.  She still has her day job at her alma mater, Temple University, and she reaches hundreds of students each year with her teaching abilities.  But this is where Joanna shines in a particular way.  She won't touch a song unless she feels it.  When she soaks her soul into the meaning of a classic, it's like you never heard the song before NOW.  This Lady Was Born To Sing.

Join Joanna and me on 5/5 - your ears will thank you!
