Deborah Emin is the publisher of Sullivan Street Press, and a writer of the Scags Series. She began the press to protect her own intellectual property and this initial motivation has grown into a full-blown commitment to publish the books that tell the stories this world needs to hear. In her other endeavors, besides writing and publishing, she is an avid traveler where she spreads the word about what the press is doing and how she finds new authors whose stories she would like to share with the world.
Why do people say, "When I retire, I will do what I want"? Why when a child says, "I want to be..." do many people want to tell them it is just a dream. We need to give children confidence to do everything possible to achieve their dreams and we need to follow our dreams when we have them; age is not a factor. We can make a difference at any age and following your dreams can be easier than you think. This is what Purpose Talk Radio guest Serena Star-Leonard has proven in her own life and has shared with many people in her books, in her travels, and in her life. on Friday, Jan. 15, noon PT/3 p.m. ET/8 p.m. in the UK.
Serena Star-Leonard is a business coach and the best selling author of two motivational business and lifestyle books: "How to Retire in 12 Months: Turning Passion into Profit" and "How to Succeed in 12 Months: Creating a Life you Love."
In April 2012 she and her husband John left their home and possessions to travel the world, filming documentaries of people who make a difference to their communities. Their adventures have brought them through 26 countries since then, filming in some of the remotest communities and meeting some of the most inspiring people on earth.
They have spent time off the tourist trail in orphanages, slums, jungles and remote highland villages, even in a brothel and a prison. Every month filming inspiring new stories of triumph of those dedicated to empowering disadvantaged communities and the conservation of animals and the environment.
They carry their office with them and have made a lifestyle out of a passion project. In late 2015 Serena and John launched Travel Kids Club, a charity project designed to inspire a generation of socially conscious and compassionate kids who are excited about the amazing world we live in.

The Politics of Promotion: How High-Achieving Women Get Ahead and Stay Ahead by Bonnie Marcus
This on demand audio series is a part of the Executive Girlfriends Group Vignette Series. Chicke Fitzgerald interviews Bonnie Marcus. The original live interview was 7/03/15.
Working industriously, diligently, and with heads down has served women well. They now hold 57 percent of all bachelor’s degrees and 51 percent of all doctorates, and earn 47 percent of law degrees and 45 percent of all master’s degrees in business. Yet, with optimism and ambition, women enter the workforce and are blindsided: only 5.2 percent of Fortune 500 CEO positions and 5.4 percent of Fortune 1,000 CEO positions are held by women.
The problem? A naïve negligence of workplace politics, argues Bonnie Marcus, award-winning entrepreneur and founder and president of Women’s Success Coaching. In her new book, Marcus details common, research-backed land mines women encounter in the workplace – from unconscious and second-generation bias to a lack of self-confidence and a distaste for self-promotion – and provides proven tools for women to arm themselves for success.
Bonnie received a BA from Connecticut College and a M.Ed. from New York University. She is an ICF certified executive coach. As the President of Women’s Success Coaching, Bonnie assists professional women to successfully navigate the workplace and position and promote themselves to advance their careers.

At some point we all have set goals for each New Year with the promise of fulfilling each and everyone of them. And so when we fail at this we often give up and say its just too much to accomplish and become overwhelmed. They are set with the best of intentions, hoping to lose a little from those trimmings at Thanksgiving and Christmas or stopping a bad habit in its tracks. So how can we be consistent without going overboard with expectations that become way too difficult to achieve. I must confess that I to have set some lofty goals and came out short, so here are just a few things Im hoping to learn this coming new year when it comes to goal setting and achieving. First, we must let go of the past, i know it sounds simple, but with God's divine power and encouragement through his word we can do this. We must bring to God that which prevents us from reaching our goals. Make a commitment and exercise discipline in trying to reach your goals. And finally get support from others to help encourage you along your journey. Please join me as we look to faithfully seek the Lord for wisdom and guidance through this New Year of 2015!
