1 Corinthians 2 I trust the power of God! I have the mind of Christ!
1 And I, brothers, when I came to you, did not come with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God.
3 I was with you in weakness and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
5 so that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Kas Winters, creator of EverythingFamily.net is here this month with another fun show, "Make History Fun, and never boring, with George, Abe, and the Sneaky Mom".Many students think history is boring. Let the Sneaky Mom provide ideas that make history come to life while focusing on interesting figures who changed the world. Memorizing dates and battles is not included. As Kas shares all the time, children learn best when they think they are playing - so she is here sharing great ways to "play" with history and make it fun for all.

As recently as 1956, nearly 39 percent of blacks voted Republican in that year's presidential election. After the Civil War, Abe Lincoln's Republican Party easily carried the black vote -- where blacks were allowed to vote. Unwelcome in the Democratic Party, most blacks voted Republican and continued to do so through the early part of the 20th century. It wasn't until 1948, when 77 percent of the black vote went to Harry Truman, who had desegregated the military, that a majority of blacks identified themselves as Democrats.
Yet, as a percentage of the party, more Republicans voted for the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 than did Democrats. Why do black people vote for democrats?

At the heart of Ballad of America is traditional American folk music. The early settlers in the New World played and sang a variety of songs from their native homelands as they worked, prayed, and enjoyed leisure activities. By the time of the American Revolution, they were adapting these songs and creating new ones that reflected their ever-changing circumstances and environment.
Ballad of America explores the songs, music, and instruments of the colonists, pioneers, sailors, lumberjacks, immigrants, '49ers, farmers, mountianeers, slaves, soldiers, cowboys, railroaders, and activists for social justice. It features fiddle tunes, folksongs, Old World ballads, work songs, spirituals, love songs, shanties, reels, play parties, breakdowns, blues, and more.
Without question, 2016 has kicked off on a decidedly dark note.
Above and beyond a ridiculous circus of a Presidential election, a record breaking wave of snowstorms in the East and tornadoes down South, increasing corporate and financial malfeasance both nationally and globally and some ongoing global concerns, we've lost large chunks of music, television and film history in the surprisingly short span of a single month.
So join us as we pay tribute to names like David Bowie, the Jefferson Airplane's Paul Kantner and Signe Anderson, Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister of Motorhead and Hawkwind and Jimmy Bain of Dio and Rainbow, not to mention folks like Glenn Frey of the Eagles, Dallas Taylor of Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Dale Griffin of Mott the Hoople, Nicholas Caldwell of the Whispers, Mic Gillette of Tower of Power and Stones/Yardbirds manager Giorgio Gomelsky on the music end,
and Angus Scrimm (Phantasm), Dan Haggerty (Grizzly Adams), Vilmos Zsigmond (of the Ray Dennis Steckler and Arch Hall films, Easy Rider and Close Encounters), Abe "Fish" Vigoda, Frank Finlay, Terry Wogan, Jacques Rivette and Pat "Schneider" Harrington on the television and film end...
Raise a Toast to Those Fallen
On this episode we will be welcoming the Commanding General of Forces Command, Gen. Robert “Abe” Abrams to the show.
Gen Abrams comes from a long line of military heritage, from his Father Gen. Creighton Abrams (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creighton_Abrams) to all his brothers and sisters who have also all served, with many also achieving the rank of General Officer.
We look forward to talking with the General on everything from the recent Command decisions he has had to make to what he sees in force realignment, impacts of military budgets, and everything in between for the time we have him on the air.
