Melody Webb will begin her second full year with the Norfolk State athletics department in 2015-16 as the senior associate athletics director for administration/senior woman administrator. She joined NSU in April of 2014 after gathering 12 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics, including prior leadership positions at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, George Washington University, University of Maryland-College Park and Elizabeth City State University.

Webb was a former student-athlete in volleyball, basketball, and track and field at Savannah State University. Among her many accolades, Webb was captain in both volleyball and basketball and earned All-SIAC honors in volleyball and track. After graduation, she remained at SSU to start her coaching career as an assistant volleyball coach. She later got her first opportunity as head volleyball coach at Bowie State University and led her team to postseason play each year.

Webb continued to develop professionally and became associate athletics director and senior woman administrator at Elizabeth City State University. In that role, she cultivated administrative experience that expanded beyond finance. In addition to fiduciary responsibilities, her duties included event management, sports oversight, personnel development and scheduling.

Her first opportunity to manage financial operations for a FBS school would occur in 2006 at the University of Maryland. For five years, Webb was instrumental in the financial management of a $55 million budget and was responsible for external and internal reports to university administrators, the Department of Education and the NCAA.
