Are Higher Powers Necessary?

Some people, including some Left-Hand Pathers, believe that higher forces are necessary to uncover and fulfill a person's higher will. Anyone familiar with the AA would recognize the program's recommendation that a person must embrace a higher power to recover; is living a healthy life the same way? Other Left-Hand Pathers don't care if a will is "higher" or "lower" and otherwise don't see any other forces as necessary to this achievement.
