Adventurer, TV star, world traveler Josh Gates' latest endeavor is as co-exec producer of new Syfy paranormal reality show, Stranded, a 6-episode series launching tonight, 2/27, documenting an unconventional, terrifying, paranormal and psychological experiment.

Each hour-long episode features the self-recorded footage of a diverse group of every-day paranormal enthusiasts stranded at one of the most haunted locations in America. The teams of three record the entire experience with hand-held cameras, and footage from the subjects’ cameras will be supplemented by strategically-placed security cameras at each location, creating a suspenseful, completely unscripted first-hand account of each group’s stay.

For five seasons Destination Truth has been a fascinating, wildly enjoyable combination of travelogue and serious paranormal/crypto-zoological investigation. The show has excellent production vlaues, a capable and engaging team, cool gadgets, and the gloss of solid scientific method about it, as befitting Gates' academic background in archaeology at Tufts University.

The stalwart Gates, who was recently inducted into The Explorers Club, a prestigious organization dedicated to the advancement of exploration and field research, is a tremendous host and adventure-team leader, very quick and clever, self-effacing but confident, and enviably competent at a number of outdoor skills including diving, climbing, trekking, and photography.

More of Josh’s travels are chronicled in his bestselling book, Destination Truth: Memoirs of a Monster Hunter, published by Simon and Schuster in 2011.
