Hurricane Sally did not make landfall here but what she did was dump 48 hours of continous torrential rain on us. This led to monumental flooding. I live in a low laying area with a bay that is in my back yard. The amount of rain caused our neighborhood lift station to overwork the pumps. This is not my gripe. My gripe is the slow response from the city. I began getting raw sewage back up in my tub on Monday night. My toliet stopped working. I had water coming into my kitchen as well as a little under the floor boards of the living room. I called Utilites on Monday which I was told that someone would come out to check to see if it was a city problem or on me. Actually the first thing out of the incompetent customer service representative was had I called a plumber. Which I replied no. As the water rose over halfway my tub I called Public Works the next day where I was told that as soon as it let up crews would be out. There were breaks and no crews out. I had not seen a work truck on my street. The stench was starting. I called on day 3 and had my information taken. A city worker came out and could not find my clean out valve. I have no idea where it is and I am sure that I am not the only woman who does not know. I called back and got the same woman from the previous day talked to me with sense but this time I was met with snark and lies and I let her have it. The call ended with me having the last word and hanging up. I had done a facebook live video the previous day. I walked down and took pictures and posted immediately. The night before I had posted a picture of my tub on the City's website and they removed it. All they wanted was praise and attaboys. i was not and still not giving any. A community activist asked what was my address and she rode by. Another community member was seen on my street. All of a sudden work trucks showed up and I began receiving calls and voicemails.
