Join Words Make People Sunday June 28, 2015 from 1-3 p.m. (EST) with your host Michael Saahir as we discuss "SYMBOLS THAT BURDEN AND OPPRESS" with Special Guest Imam Ahmed Majeed of Milwaukee, WI.

Currently in the news there is much debate about the Confederate Flag and its history.Additionally there are other symbols in our society that support the hegemony of those in power. Join me and co-hosts Mustafaa Abdullah, Sabrina Kaba and Tysha Ahmad as we address the many subliminal and cognizant messages in our society that burden our lives with racist, sexist and culturally debilitating symbols and images.

America is a great country that can be even greater as we strive TOWARDS a more perfect Union. We say this fully recognizing that G_d is always Greater.

We encourage you to listen to this conversation and then to call in at 714 816-4763 with your comments and questions for our guest. We will close with comments about the month of Ramadan, the 29-30 day period wherein Muslims fasting for the pleasure of Allah. See my write up on Ramadan at  http://t.co/gYWpXglV4Y
