Caught in the Middle

This Saturday on Behind the Blue Curtain we will be joined by Sgt Vincent Montague.  Sgt Montague works in the Cleveland Police Department and is also the President of the Black Shield Police Association.  We are going to talk about the stresses that today’s police climate has upon Black Police Officers.  Black Lives Matter and Blue Lives Matter both add a degree of difficulty to the Black Police Officer as each side has its expectations.  The Black Officers took an oath to serve and protect, but we he or she also sees the injustices within their departments and the incidents that have been in the spotlight over the last 5 years.  If you speak out or in support of a victim of police violence, then you considered a traitor.  If you support an officer’s actions at a scene, you can be viewed as a “Uncle Tom”   Policing in America is changing and department leadership and community expectations need to change with it.  The call-in number is (646) 716-4621 then press 1 on your phone so I know you would like to speak.
