The mental health crisis in America has been handed over to Law Enforcement to deal with.  Law Enforcement Officers are not mental health professionals.  We are given a  sprinkling of training and are expected to recognize people in crisis and react to their needs.  I believe the decision to pass this monumental crisis on to Law enforcement opens a door for a person in crisis to be mistaken for someone on drugs and has resulted in deaths.  This week Dr. Lauren Tenney is our guest on Behind the Blue Curtain.  Dr. Tenney is well versed on incidents involving people in crisis and the results that came from Police being called.  Join us this Saturday and let your voice be heard.  The call-in number is 646-716-4621 and press 1 if you have a question or comment.  I do NOT speak for the City of Waco, the Waco Police Department, the Officers, Civilian Employees or Citizens of Waco.  My opinions are based on my professional and personal experiences.
