Legendary scribe and sportscaster,Dr.M.Lee''Doc''Stanley Sr.,broadcasts once again live from Brazil, this time from the capital city of Ceara,Fortaleza, his iconic and award winning radio show,'Sports In Depth'. Harold Weston Jr.,only African-American matchmaker in MSG history joins Doc as they  reflect on the career and friendship of a great boxer and friend, the late Howard Davis Jr.,
Davis will be remembered for his greatest moment, winning the gold medal and the Val Barker Award as the most outstanding boxer in Montreal, beating out such greats as Leonard, the Spinks brothers and Cuban legend Teofilo Stevenson. To get to Montreal, Davis had to defeat such great future professionals as Hilmer Kenty, Thomas Hearns and Aaron Pryor twice in the national AAU tournament.
Davis received devastating news three days before his first Olympic match: His mother, Catherine, had suffered a heart attack and died. Davis contemplated leaving the Games before one of his coaches, Tom Johnson asked him, “what would your mother want you to do?” Davis recalled that among his mother’s last
words to him were, “you’d better bring home that gold medal.” So he decided to stay and dedicate his effort to his mother. During his third-round fight against Bulgarian Tzvetan Tzvetkov whom Davis stopped in the third round,Cosell described Davis thusly''He's a carbon copy in his own way of Muhammad Ali.Swift hands, swift feet snake like left jab constant movement often keeps his hands at his sides like Ali.Davis got into boxing after watching a movie about Muhammad Ali.*TRUST*IN*GOD*
''True Love, loves at all times and in all ways.'' Doc Stanley
