Teresa Wright 6:15pm
A victim of bullying throughout her life, Wright was motivated to begin in-depth research on the types, causes and prevalence of bullying in both the home and work place. Combining this data with her own experiences and cutting edge coaching practices, she empowers individuals to become bully free.
She also works with employers to create anti-bullying polices, as well as identifying the bullies “Bullying in this country is out of control,” Wright said. “We have young people killing themselves, families being destroyed andpeople living in misery out of fear”. Bullying affects everyone involved; the victim, the bully, and even the witnesses.
Isis Brantley - 7:15pm
CEO – Institute of Ancestral Braiding and Natural Hair Icon Master natural hair stylist, beauty entrepreneur and philanthropist, Isis Brantley has served the community for over thirty years as an activist representing the most impoverished and oppressed citizens and as an advocate for micro community-based and women owned businesses. Seen often as a revolutionary and iconic figure, Isis is known largely as a result of her 1997 arrest by the State of Texas for braiding hair without a license even though the state had no such laws on record at the time. Isis stood strong and actively fought the Texas judicial system until 2007 when she was grandfathered under their new braiding laws. Now as a licensed ancestral braider, Isis uses her expertise to teach individuals across the globe, the millennia old art form.
