    Where's Barack/The Coming Apocalypse 2010

    in Politics Conservative

The world has also been experiencing destructive weather patterns, such as Hurricane Katrina and the 2008 Myanmar Cyclone which killed 140.000 people! There was severe cold snaps this winter all over the world with snowfall in California and Florida, and all over the United States and many casualties in Europe. The weather worldwide has been growing increasingly weird, with super storms raging all over the Earth, causing huge hailstones as big as baseballs to fall down damaging homes and cars and huge flash floods turning streets into rivers in Melbourne, Australia. And the flooding that took place in Rio de Janeiro, "and I can assure you", a witness says, "that it looked like the biblical Flood, I mean, the rain didn't stop." Frightening mile-wide tornadoes wreak havoc in Mississippi causing wide destruction, and on May 3rd 2010 Tennessee was hit by a historic flooding that have inundated highways, businesses and thousands of homes. — It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that something is going on here. But let's see what the US Corps of Engineers had to say about the recent flooding — "According to the Army Corps of Engineers, the flood that hit Nashville was a 1,000-year flood - an event that could be expected to happen once in every 1,000 years on average." — The floods this year across the US have been particularly severe. US is not singled out, all Earth is affected by planet wide disaster!

Yesterday was just another day in the rapidly unraveling Middle East.

Turkish news media reported that a Syria-bound Iranian cargo plane suspected of carrying nuclear material was forced to land in Turkey on Saturday for inspection.

No nuke connection was found -- though, not surprisingly, inspectors did discover rocket launchers, mortars, rifles and explosives, which were all removed.

He-Said-She-Said, God’s Social Agenda – He Said | Eating Fish – She Said

    in Romance

The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land: unleavened bread and roasted grain. The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate the produce of Canaan. Joshua 5:11-12

Oh Lord, please let me go into labor. Pleeeeaasseee, let me go into labor. That was my prayer on November 21, 1981. Nine months pregnant, living in the low country, dodging fire ants, I pleaded, No clam bake, Lord. Please no clam bake.

Our South Carolina friends were wonderful to invite us to their yearly clam bake. We’d attended the year before and the fish they flopped on my plate stared back at me. Fish . . . uggh . . . I guess it was good. I zoned out as I stared back at the dark eye and crispy fin. When I came around, it was half-eaten and to this day, I can’t tell you if it was me that did the eating. But being pregnant in the dog days of summer, meant the thoughts of eating anything vaguely fishy turned my stomach.

The folks in low country are the true essence of southern hospitality. Think Paula Deen, plus some. They enjoy the fruits of their coastal lands—lobster, shrimp, flounder, and clams all bring friends together for fellowship and (I suppose) tasty delights.

We were dirt poor when we lived in South Carolina and it wasn’t unusual to wonder where the next meal would come from, but God always provided. He answered my prayer too. I went into labor the afternoon of the clam bake. No fish eating for me.

    Distributism

    in Religion

Whatever the root cause of the current “economic crisis” may be, it is clear that what is at threat goes deeper than pension funds, jobs and livelihoods. Every aspect of Western society is being put into question, and rightly so. The great weakness of Capitalism and Socialism (from the point of view of the average man-in-the-street) is that both have ultimately been used to centralize power. Socialism is overtly centralist, advocating a single party political system, communal ownership of everything, but governed centrally, and so forth. Free market (laissez-faire) Capitalism is indirectly centralist in that it promotes monopolies, cartels, corporatism, and various other types of corruption which effectively result in centralized government. Socialism and Capitalism are both failed ideologies because each promotes the ultimate confiscation of wealth from the population, placing it into the hands of a few.

Is there another alternative?  Dr Donald Goodman visits the Backyard to talk about Distributism; the "third way," in opposition to both socialism and capitalism.
