The American Hospital Association (AHA) endorsed the adoption of mandatory patient safety policies that require employees to either receive an influenza vaccination OR wear a mask while at work. Sentara revised its flu prevention policy based on these guidelines.

All Sentara employees shall be required to participate in the annual influenza prevention campaign by one of the following methods: 1) Obtain recommended influenza vaccination from Sentara or another provider; 2) Decline vaccination.
