Sunday Feb 9, 2014: 6 pm PST. Join Restita and Robert as they welcome callers to join in the discussion of "old school" training.....is martial arts different today than, let's say, in the 60's?

For many of us, "Old school" was very little (if any) sparring protective equipment, fist guards were unheard of as we relied on control of our techniques. If we got hit, we knew it was an accident and not on purpose...no lawsuits. The Master Instructor was a force to be reckoned with, not a person to debate class fees with. Class tuition was paid by students with work and school upkeep if they didn't have money for that month, and being an "indoor disciple" was an honor earned instead of obtained by money on the table. Have things changed? If so, is it for the better?

We know that martial arts are meant to evolve, but does that mean the traditions and meaning of the arts have change to meet the modern mind? What are your thoughts? Give us a call on show day....we'd love to hear from you!
