FMCSA Health Updates for CDL drivers

    in Current Events

Thursday 12-3-15 6PM  "FMCSA Health Updates for CDL drivers"

With Truck Driver Health continuing to be a major concern among drivers and the rest of the trucking community, Elaine Papp of HealthadnSafetyWorks.net joins us once again to keep us up to date on what is coming down the pike with FMCSA rules and possible changes.

We'll be discussing the possibility of VA doctors being given the authority to perform CDL health physicals for U.S. Veterans who meet criteria for VA health care benefits, without having to be a part of the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.

We'll also be reviewing the rules for Insulin dependent diabetics and the progress on the NPRM regarding doing away with Insulin Exemptions for CDL drivers. FMCSA is proposing to permit drivers with stable, well-controlled insulin-treated diabetes mellitus (ITDM) to be qualified to operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in interstate commerce.

Finally, what's happening with Sleep Apnea Ruling?  What should we be expecting?

    in Self Help

Sister Jenna welcomes Author Hannah Papp to the America Meditating Radio Show as we celebrate National Travel Tourism Week.

Tired of living a life crafted in response to expectations, Hannah Papp quit her job, bought a EuroRail ticket and a map, notified her landlady, and left town. Embarking on a 3-month long journey across Europe with no plan and no direction, Hannah stumbled into becoming a modern day Mystical Backpacker. Along the way her discoveries and the teachers she encountered allowed her to go on a deeper journey into the self and the spirit—finally exposing the real self she had long been lacking.

Today, Hannah heads up the Northern Virginia Mind, Body & Spirit Group, teaching seminars and leading guided meditations.  She also works regularly with clients as a personal Soul Coach and continues to blog, write and journey, both as a traveler and as a mystical backpacker.  Her new book is entitled, “The Mystical Backpacker – How to Discover Your Destiny in the Modern World.”  Visit www.themysticalbackpacker.com.

Pros and Cons of FMCSA Proposed Rule - Drivers with insulin dependent Diabetes

    in Current Events

Saturday June 27th 6:30 PM ET
    347-826-9170

The FMCSA has posted a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, Qualifications of Drivers; Diabetes Standard, proposing to do away with the Diabetes Exemption Program. Although there are many drivers who feel this is a long overdue rule, others are concerned that the rule (the way it is written) would compromise the safety of the driver and the highways.

Dr Randolph Rosarion, certified medical examiner in the US DOT FMCSA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) and Elaine Papp, board certified occupational health nurse and founder of Health and Safety Works, LLC, will be our special guests as they discuss the complex and unseen details of insulin dependent Diabetes mellitus and how it relates to the NPR and the professional driver.

Qualifications of Drivers; Diabetes Standard Summary -
FMCSA proposes to permit drivers with stable, well-controlled insulin-treated diabetes mellitus (ITDM) to be qualified to operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in interstate commerce. Currently, drivers with ITDM are prohibited from driving CMVs in interstate commerce unless they obtain an exemption from FMCSA.
