    JANUARY 28, 2016

The politics of hate is strong in the 2016 election cycle, and its rhetoric has few bigger targets than the people of the Muslim community. US history reveals a longstanding pattern by the ruling class using systems of oppression to divide and conquer the masses, with the poor and middle class of all colors being its biggest targets. Islam is no exception to this oppression, as the religion practiced by over 2 billion people is a frequent target for right-wing corporate networks seeking to make money off spreading fear and misinformation which fuels anti-Islamic extremism in the United States and a highly-profitable “War on Terror” in the Middle East.

As communities of color mobilize movements for black lives and immigrant rights, the Muslim community is also rising to challenge the systems of racism and other oppressions still being enforced. We confront the problem of Islamophobia in American politics and clear up the common misconceptions about Islam in a conversation with Maheen Ahmed from the Sacramento Valley chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Fresh sweet berries are nature’s candy, or so we like to think. But there’s nothing natural about the inhumane treatment experienced by the farmworkers responsible for bringing those berries to your table.

Join us for a conversation with farmworker and union activist Alfredo “Lelo” Juárez, and community organizer with Community to Community Development and Move to Amend board member Edgar Franks on the fight to expand democracy and procure human rights for migrant farmworkers, as we bring into focus the first farmworkers' union, Familias Unidas por la Justicia, and the ongoing boycott of berry products from corporate agribusiness, Sakuma Brothers Farms and Driscoll's.

Learn more about the boycott, visit boycottsakumaberries.com.

    Remembering Our Youth

    in The Bible

The youth are in a very dangerous place these days. Temptations have increased with technology, media, and many other avenues that the devil has used to divert their minds from the Lord. Even though I am 25 years old, sometimes it can be easy to forget what was going through my mind at 15 or 16. However, I just want to remind that we have younger folks looking at us, not only for an example, but for support in this trying world.

Since I had a very hard childhood, it is easy for me to see how children and teens can go through a lot of pain, stress, and etc. However, some because they have not experienced this on a certain scale, which is good, they do not think young people go through trials, but they do and many times more than we imagine. Some more than others, but they experience battles just as we do and many times they are burdensome because of the stage of life they are in.

Let's talk about the struggles of today and offer some words of encouragement and advice to the young people out there. We will look at the Word of God and the Spirit of Prophecy.

1 Timothy 4:12 "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."

    Youth and Testing

    in Family

Join co-hosts Eric Komoroff (www.communityofunity.org) and Dr. Jason Stein (iRyze.com) in a discussion about today's youth and the current thoughts and practices of testing in today's schools. Do these tests really work as a true indicator of a child's knowledge? It is good to rely so heavily on test results? Are school children actually learning? These are some of what will be discussed in this episode.
