We welcome Yonette Odessa to TiM Blog Talk Radio to talk about her debut album, 'Free'. For more info, www.yonetteodessa.com, there is a Contest to win some great prizes. About Yonette Odessa Yonette Odessa Hall-Williams (stage name - Y.O. or Yonette Odessa), is a Christian singer, songwriter and recording artist. Born in Guyana, South America, and migrated to the U.S.A. with her family at fourteen (14) years. Y.O.'s gift of singing was discovered and nurtured by my mother at six years old, singing in church and at various events in our community with my siblings. While working on her solo career, she collaborated with other musicians and bands such as Sir Hall, Richie Righteous, ReDeem and Davidic Praise. Additionally, she regularly express my passion for music and the arts by leading Manifestation of His Praise, the dance group at her local church, where she is also a prominent member of the praise and worship team. As if those endeavors were not time consuming enough, she still find the time to be a devoted wife, and mother to their four beautiful children. As a singer/songwriter, she bring a very unique musical flare to her generation. Although her roots are confidently placed in contemporary gospel, her style has been compared to several of my musical inspirations: Cece Winans, Yolanda Adams, Jennifer Hudson. The Closing of the year 2012 has been an amazing one for her as she finally released my debut album, “Free.” This entire album speaks about the failures, and victories of her life and she is pleased to share it with the world.

She got saved and filled with the Holy Spirit at the young age of 10. Ciara went on to pursue her career and ministry in Music by studying music at Norfolk State University upon high school graduation. Odessa Rose was born and reared in Baltimore City, which serves as the backdrop for her fiction. At a very young age she became an avid reader and writer of fiction, having been inspired by my mother, who is a voracious reader of horror stories, especially those of Stephen King. After reading a story in Readers Digest, Rose told her mother that she wanted to be a writer. Her mother’s response was, “Well, write, baby.” So she began writing short stories and tried her hand at a novel or two. But she wasn’t sure if she had what it took to be a “real” writer.
Greetings to all God's people thank you for tuning in every week I am grateful for the love and support I receive from you all.But I give all Praise and Glory to God without God I would not be here today. My guest this evening is the one and only Andrea Helms she is known for her powerful voice and performances on Season 4 of BET’s Sunday Best, is a lifelong singer and worshipper from Odessa, Texas. She was an only child and the daughter of a pastor who introduced her to her love of music. Her father, who was the pastor of Friendship Church in Denton, TX, was an accomplished musician; and passed those talents on to Andrea. Music was all around her in school, at home and in church. She credits God and her praying mother for bringing her through that tough time. Those experiences enabled Andrea to use her own life experience to minister to other women who were silently suffering, as well.Andrea is now a sought out speaker at many women’s conferences and events.
My Guest this Thursday, February 29th at 3 p.m. PST on MetalSmith BenchTalk is David Geller, the owner of Jewelry Artisans, Inc. in Atlanta Georgia.
About: David’s training started as a 10-year-old during the summers in his father’s jewelry wholesale manufacturing company. At the age of 16, David received a car for the sole purpose of coming to work after school.
The family has traced their roots back 14 generations in the jewelry field, going back through New York, Odessa Russia, Spain, France and England. In 1972 David worked for Neiman Marcus when they opened up in Atlanta as a jeweler and then started Jewelry Artisans, as a trade shop in 1974. Within a few short years, the company dropped the trade accounts, dealing full time with the retail end of the business. In 1999 Jewelry Artisans performed over 8800 job envelopes doing over 1.8 million in sales, with half of that coming from the bench.
Over the years, David developed a system of paying his jewelers on a commission basis, giving them the ability to make a very good living and assuring the store profits of about four times on their labor. The 300 page price book that was developed for his store has quickly become the “repair bible” for over 2000 stores across the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia and Guam.
David speaks to state jewelers organizations, at trade shows , and has three yearly all day seminars for the complete training of jewelers on how to price repairs and custom work.

A group of three friends who made music in a house in Lubbock, Texas, recorded an album that wasn’t released and went their separate ways into solo careers. That group became a legend and then - twenty years later - a band. The Flatlanders - Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Butch Hancock - are icons in American music, with songs blending country, folk, and rock that have influenced a long list of performers, including Robert Earl Keen, the Cowboy Junkies, Ryan Bingham, Terry Allen, John Hiatt, Hayes Carll, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, and Lyle Lovett.
In The Flatlanders: Now It's Now Again, Austin author and music journalist John T. Davis traces the band’s musical journey from the house on 14th Street in Lubbock to their 2013 sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall. He explores why music was, and is, so important in Lubbock and how earlier West Texas musicians such as Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison, as well as a touring Elvis Presley, inspired the young Ely, Gilmore, and Hancock. Davis vividly recreates the Lubbock countercultural scene that brought the Flatlanders together and recounts their first year (1972–1973) as a band, during which they recorded the songs that, decades later, were released as the albums More a Legend Than a Band and The Odessa Tapes. He follows the three musicians through their solo careers and into their first decade as a (re)united band, in which they cowrote songs for the first time on the albums Now Again and Hills and Valleys and recovered their extraordinary original demo tape, lost for forty years. Many roads later, the Flatlanders are finally both a legend and a band.
