Join us every 2nd Monday of the month for "Lessons from the Play Room" a 30 minute talk exploring the little things that make a big difference in the play therapy process. Each 30 minute radio show will address common questions mental health practitioners run into when working with kids. We will be discussing topics such as:
*Hellos and Good-byes
*Designing a Play Room
*And much more
This is more than a Do's and Don'ts, it's a look at the little lessons that our kids teach us to best facilitate their process.
This month's topic: Translating the Play Room to the Parents

We tell stories about our work and our play but rarely think about the difference between the two. Tonight we will define work and play and discover that for some of us we are really playing when we work and working hard when we tell ourselves that we are playing. We will discuss careers that allow some of us to play while others get trapped in a life of hard work. We will explore our important relationships in the same light as well as other important life activit
Life takes us through many journeys. If our eyes are open we grow from each experience. The thing it teaches us all is that nothing is set in stone. That change is the only constant. That the diversity is what intrigues us. That we are the sum of previous thoughts. That what we are experiencing right now is what we invisioned to be the case. This station will not have a rigid format to start. Instead it will ebb between, health, life, love and living. There will be no topic out of bounds and it will incourage critical thinking. But it will settle for dead beat humor. Sarcastic remarks and being able to laugh at yourself.

He is presently working on a book with Howard Glasser about how within play, the principles of the Nurtured Heart Approach can be enhanced and embodied.
*Any stories shared are amalgums of experiences based on the use of the Nurtured Heart Approach by our hosts and our guests and are not based on any particular person - child or adult.*
