Dancing to the Tune of Recovery

    in Health

Sel Kerans discusses his new book, Leading the Dance: Living well with Parkinson’s Disease, and his own journey on the road to recovery in an open, conversational expose of a five year journey with Parkinson’s disease and the experiences that have inspired the writing of a book that may be helpful, motivational and encouraging for others, especially those newly diagnosed with the condition.

His book has been dedicated to the late Robin Williams and is about overcoming adversity, staying positive and content; focusing on healing, recovery and living well. Leading the dance with an unwelcome stranger called Parkinson’s disease. Sel discusses:

    What hurdles have you faced?
    How have you overcome them?
Would you consider yourself recovered from Parkinson's disease?
Do you believe it's possible to recover completely from the symptoms of Parkinson's disease?
You mention in your book some reluctance with medication - what's been your approach to taking medication over the five years?
What resources have been useful for you in learning about alternative approaches to managing the symptoms?

TREATMENT and RECOVERY: To Relapse or not to Relapse (That is not a question)

    in Self Help

Show Topic: We have moved passed the immediate period of our post treatment experience (The Postpartum). We are now fully integrated back into our society, our lives.  We are now fully exposed to the "dual elements" of life.  Those elements can be the re-entering of us into old experiences, or having new experiences. They all create or cause feelings. Triggers have come............and gone?!? What happens if there's a relapse? How do we respond?

How to incorporate the recovery steps into your yoga practice.

    in Self Help

In my new books, Building Blocks of Recovery, the Deluxe Edition and the 2nd Edition, I break down the levels of healing with you.  This week we will be discussing the "I AM" level and why having yoga in your recovery practice is so important.

I have never known my recovery without yoga and the practice has helped me to learn more about integrity and honesty than I could have learned on my own.  I learned how to be in community and yet make sure my needs were met.  It was this visceral experience that helped me to become the woman I am today. "A simple woman who works a simple program".

I would love to hear from you.  Please email your questions to me at buildingblocksofrecovery@gmail.com or give me a call at 3:30 PM PST.  It will be an honor to be of service to you and answer your questions!

    women

    in Women

Iris and Priya return for another candid conversation about women entering the wisdom years of 60! Join us for another engaging conversation about things we often do not really talk about in public, at least honestly and openly. Todays episode is about "happy to be single". So many of us women are single in our midlife. In a culture that is fixated on being in relationship as the only path to fulfillment for a woman, being single can be a real challenge. The big one is being alright with being single in the face of all of the negative conditioning that we have grown up with that tells us that we are not ok if we are not together with someone aka "Married". Once we get over that big hurdle and settle into ourselves then there are the questions of how to get our social, sexual and intimacy needs met. It takes a village of the sisterhood to break through the viels that keep us isolated, alone and in despair about our being single. Let's move through it together so that we can celebrate our lives as sovereign women loving oursleves and eachother!
